Heading into the 2026 NBA Draft, there was a chance -- albeit a small one -- that Tucker DeVries could hear his name called. DeVries was listed on ESPN's Top-100 NBA Draft Board, and even projected as a 2nd Round pick by Adam Finkelstein of CBS Sports.
However, the draft came and went without DeVries' name coming off the board. Despite going undrafted, DeVries still has a chance to carve out a path to the NBA after signing with the Boston Celtics.
Tucker DeVries inks Exhibit-10 contract with Boston Celtics
On Thursday, DeVries signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Celtics. The contract is not guaranteed, meaning DeVries will have to prove himself in order to potentially earn a roster spot. He will likely start on Boston's Summer League roster, and if that goes well, earn an invitation to training camp.
If DeVries ends up getting waived, the Celtics will still retain his rights for one year to their G-League affiliate, the Maine Celtics. If he goes out and makes the team, he will receive a one-year, NBA minimum salary contract with Boston.

In preparation for the draft, DeVries went through more than a dozen NBA workouts. He slimmed down from his 225-pound frame from this past season, which could help him move better in space while trying to stand out from the crowd this summer.
Tucker DeVries' NBA dreams are still alive
DeVries has been on NBA Draft boards since his days at Drake when he won back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year honors in 2022-23 and 2023-24. He then follow his dad, Darian, to West Virginia, where he only appeared in 8 total games. In Morgantown, DeVries averaged 14.9 points 4.9 rebounds per game for the Mountaineers.
DeVries then followed his dad again, this time to Bloomington to play for the Hoosiers. He finished the campaign averaging 13.7 points and leading the team with 5.3 rebounds per contest. He knocked down multiple three-pointers in 23 games and his three double-doubles led the Hoosiers.
Darian DeVries wastes no time, extends first 2029 offer to rising in-state prospect
He played all five seasons of his college basketball career for this dad, and ends his collegiate career averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 42.8% from the floor and 35.8% from three-point range.
DeVries' highest-scoring game as a Hoosier came back on November 9 against Marquette. The Waukee, IA native put up 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting and went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc. He then put up 26 points on December 9 against the 6th-ranked Louisville Cardinals.
Darian DeVries is set to enter his second season at the helm of the Indiana program after going 18-14 this past season. The Hoosier faithful are hungrier than ever for a March Madness run, and with the NCAA Tournament field about to expand to 76 teams, appearing in March Madness may be the bare minimum of expectations for DeVries in 2026-27.
