Darian DeVries delivered an underwhelming first season in Bloomington, and fans are hungry for a much better campaign next season.
Plenty of new faces will be on the roster for the 2026-27 season, as Indiana's graduating class accounted for nearly 78% of the minutes played and 84.1% of the scoring from this past season. Thus, DeVries and his staff with plenty of work to do in reshaping IU's roster for next season.
Former Hoosier enters the transfer portal again in a move everyone saw coming
The college basketball transfer portal is set to open on Tuesday, April 7, and DeVries figures to be busy. Players across the country have already announced their intentions to test the portal waters, including a pair of Hoosiers.
Last week, junior guard Jason Drake became the first Hoosier to announce his intentions to enter the portal after missing the entire 2025-26 season with a lower body injury. Now, another Hoosier is on the move.
Indiana junior guard Jasai Miles to enter the transfer portal
Junior guard Jasai Miles plans to enter the portal when it opens on Tuesday. Miles spent one season in Bloomington after spending two seasons with North Florida. He appeared in 26 games this season and averaged 1.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.4 assists while playing 9.5 minutes per game.

Miles' highest-scoring effort with the Hoosiers came back on November 12 when he scored 6 points against Milwaukee.
Miles was previously named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Third Team after averaging 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game for UNF in 2024-25. In his collegiate career, the Miami, FL native has 90 games of experience and is averaging 8.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game over two seasons with UNF and one with IU.
Darian DeVries needs to find experienced scorers in the portal
Miles' departure now means that seven of IU's top-nine scorers from this past season won't be back in 2026-27. DeVries not only has to replace that production, but improve it after finishing 8th in the Big Ten scoring 78.2 points per game.
The incoming recruiting class is promising, as Vaughn Karvala, Prince-Moody Alexander, and Trevor Manhertz are all top-80 prospects in the country for the 2026 class. However, DeVries still needs to bring in experienced scorers through the portal.
As it stands, IU's top returning scorer from last season is guard Trent Sisley, who averaged 4.2 points per game as a true freshman. Junior guard Nick Dorn averaged 8.1 points per game, but he has yet to announce whether or not he is returning to the cream and crimson next season.
