Curt Cignetti continues to raise the bar for what's possible for the Indiana football program. Not only has Cignetti led the Hoosiers to never-before-seen success on the field, but those winnings ways are translating to the recruiting trail as well.
Over the past several months, Cignetti has orchestrated a recruiting surge that is turned heads across the country. Those efforts have turned Indiana from a program often overlooked by top prospects into one that's making serious waves in the world of recruiting.
Indiana football recruiting has plenty of momentum right now
Indiana has gained some great recruiting momentum in recent weeks. Over the last 60 days, Cignetti has landed commitments from six players who are ranked in the Rivals300. That is the kind of recruiting success that cannot be ignored.
On July 17, Indiana landed a commitment from 5-star WR Monshun Sales. He becomes the first 5-star high school commit in Indiana program history. That is a feat that many thought was never possible in Bloomington. Cignetti changed that. In total, Indiana's 2027 class features seven blue chip prospects.
Just a week later, Cignetti secured a commitment from 4-star QB Lukas Prock, who is ranked as the No. 7 QB in the 2028 recruiting class according to Rivals. He is the first commit of Indiana's 2028 class, and is another big recruiting win for Cignetti and his staff.

Not long ago, Indiana was not considered a top destination for the top high school prospects in the country. But after going 27-2 over the last two seasons and winning the National Championship last year, Bloomington is now on the radar for blue chip recruits across the country. There's no denying that Indiana is now a recruiting force that can compete for any prospect out there.
Lukas Prock's Indiana commitment comes with a message Hoosier fans are loving
As previously mentioned, Cignetti has already snagged a 2028 commit in the form of 4-star QB Lukas Prock. He is one of just six blue-chippers in the 2028 class to announce his commitment. With his pledge to Indiana, the Hoosiers are firmly in the mix alongside the traditional blue blood recruiting programs.

Just look at the teams on that graphic. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Penn State, Oklahoma. Not long ago it was unheard of for Indiana to be included in a group like that when it came to any sort of recruiting milestones. But now it's clear that Indiana is a recruiting force to be reckoned with –– and the traditional blue bloods are officially on notice.
Looking ahead, Hoosier football fans have plenty to be excited about. Cignetti's recent recruiting heater shows that he is shifting his focus a bit more toward building long-term stability through high school recruiting. Cignetti has used the transfer portal masterfully during his tenure at IU, and that will likely continue to be a focus. But now, it's clear that he is building the groundwork to have future talent coming in from the high school ranks.
Cignetti has already proven that he doesn't need elite 4 and 5-star talent to win a National Championship. But now that those kinds of recruits are committing to Indiana, the sky is the limit for what Cignetti can do in 2026 and beyond.
