After landing a commitment from 5-star WR Monshun Sales last week, Curt Cignetti wasted little time securing a commitment from another blue chip prospect. On Thursday, 4-star 2028 QB Lukas Prock announced his commitment to Cignetti and the Hoosiers. Prock is the first 2028 commit for the Hoosiers, and his pledge to Indiana sets the tone for IU's 2028 recruiting class.
Prock is a rising junior at Hun High School in New Jersey, and given his status as the No. 7 QB in the country for the 2028 recruiting cycle, many thought he would wait until after his junior season to announce a commitment. But instead, Prock saw no reason to wait.

According to Rivals' Chad Simmons, once it became clear in Prock's mind that Indiana was the place for him, he didn't want to wait.
“My thought process was, if I feel comfortable enough and the staff feels the same way, then what’s the point of waiting?” Prock told Rivals. “There’s no spot I’d rather be than Indiana, so why would I wait for somebody else to take that opportunity?”
Per Simmons' reporting, Prock sees long-term success at Indiana with Cignetti at the helm. He doesn't see Indiana's recent success as a flash in the pan –– he sees sustainability.
“I actually do think they can sustain it, Prock said. "That’s a big part of why I’m committing. I see the future, and I think Coach Cignetti can keep that standard there no matter who’s in the building.”

Furthermore, Prock sees the vision of Cignetti and his staff building up a foundation through high school recruiting. “They want to build from the ground up,” said Prock. “The stability is definitely there.”
It's no secret that Cignetti's first two teams have relied heavily on the transfer portal. But after landing seven blue chip prospects in the 2027 cycle, including IU's first-ever 5-star high school commit in Sales, it's clear that Cignetti is building something special on the recruiting trail. Prock wants to be a part of that.

Prock's post-commitment comments have Indiana football fans fired up. The energy in Bloomington has shifted, and hearing a prospect of Prock's caliber speak so highly about Cignetti and the IU football program speaks volumes about the job Cignetti has done thus far.
Indiana fans know that Cignetti is the best in the business. Yet, despite coming off a perfect 16-0 season that culminated in a historic National Championship, many are still doubting Indiana's staying power in 2026 and beyond. But Cignetti's track record speaks for itself.
Taking over for the program with the most losses in college football history, Cignetti turned the Hoosiers from an afterthought into a National Championship-winning program in just two seasons. Nobody in college football is doing what he's doing in Bloomington, and the momentum doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Now, top recruits across the country have Bloomington firmly on their radar. Needless to say, Hoosier fans are pumped up to see what Prock can do once he gets to campus.
