Curt Cignetti has made plenty of history during his time at the helm of the Indiana football program. Now after a perfect 16-0 season that culminated in a National Championship, Cignetti has made even more history -- and this time it comes on the recruiting trai.

Indiana secures commitment from 5-star WR Monshun Sales

On Friday afternoon, 5-star WR Monshun Sales announced his commitment to Indiana. Deciding between Indiana, Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, and LSU, Sales chose to stay local and play for the Hoosiers. His highly-anticipated announcement came live on The Pat McAfee Show.

Sales had a flare for the dramatic in his announcement, as he unzipped his jacket to reveal a plain, all-white t-shirt. After a few seconds, he picked up an Indiana hat and jacket to make his pledge to IU official.

Hailing from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Sales has been a top priority for Cignetti and the Hoosiers throughout the course of his recruitment process. Cignetti has never been more aggressive in his pursuit of a high school prospect, and now he has his man.

Coming off a junior season in which he totaled 37 catches for 794 yards and 9 touchdowns, Sales is one of the most coveted prospects in the entire country. Owning a 6'5" 195-pound frame, Sales is ranked as the No. 2 WR and No. 7 overall player in the country by Rivals. He possesses elite athleticism and can make any catch from sideline to sideline.

Throughout the course of its history, the Indiana football program has never landed a 5-star prospect from the high school ranks. That drought is now over.

Sales becomes Indiana's highest-ranked commit ever, and is the first 5-star recruit to commit to the Cream and Crimson. The Hoosiers continue to take the college football world by storm, and this massive recruiting win is just the latest historic achievement for Cignetti in Bloomington.
