For decades, the Indiana Hoosiers have been generally overlooked when it comes to the nation's top blue chip prospects. In fact, Indiana has never landed a 5-star high school recruit in program history. But times are changing under Curt Cignetti.
Home-state ACC program fends off Curt Cignetti, Indiana for coveted 4-Star RB
Indiana has already landed six blue chip recruits during the 2027 cycle, and more could be on the way in the coming weeks. Furthermore, Cignetti has the Hoosiers well-positioned to land a commitment from 5-star WR Monshun Sales. Securing a commitment from Sales this summer would change everything when it comes to Indiana football recruiting.
Will Monshun Sales be Indiana's first-ever 5-star high school commit?
Cignetti's incredible success in Bloomington has put Indiana firmly in the mix for blue chip recruits across the country. In years prior, prospects of Sales' status would not be likely to give the Hoosiers the time of day. But now Indiana is firmly in the mix to land its first-ever 5-star high school prospect.
Sales is ranked as the No. 1 WR and No. 8 overall player in the country for the 2027 recruiting class according to Rivals. He is one of the most coveted prospects in the nation, and is one of just four 5-star recruits in the 2027 class who remain uncommitted.
Sales' list of finalists include Indiana, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, and LSU. He has taken Official Visits to all of his final contenders over the spring, and is now in decision-making mode.

Indiana can put the country on notice by landing 5-star WR Monshun Sales
It's already abundantly clear that Cignetti has raised the level of expectations for the IU football program. Taking over the program with the most losses in college football history, Cignetti has gone 27-2 during his two seasons at Indiana and led the Hoosiers to their first-ever football National Championship this past season.
But now, Cignetti has a chance to make another serious statement by landing Sales on the recruiting trail. It's not a stretch to say that Sales ending up in Bloomington would signal a major power shift in college football recruiting. When the Hoosiers start showing that they can go head-to-head and win against the traditional blue blood college football powers in recruiting, people notice. Looking to continue riding the momentum from last year's historic national title, landing Sales would make even more history for Cignetti in Bloomington.
In the short term, landing Sales would give Indiana's 2027 recruiting class a major boost when it comes to the national recruiting rankings. The Hoosiers currently own the No. 29 overall recruiting class according to Rivals, and ending up with a Top-25 class could come down to Sales' decision.
With all of Sales' Official Visits wrapped up, a decision could be coming at any time. Looking to continue taking the college football world by storm, Hoosier football fans across the country are now waiting with bated breath. Hopefully, the history continues to roll in for Cignetti and the Hoosiers with a verbal commitment from the highly-touted 5-star prospect.
