This Big Ten landing spot for Flory Bidunga would be Indiana’s worst-case scenario

Hoosier nation is bracing for the worst if Flory Bidunga chooses this Big Ten destination in the portal.

Kansas star Flory Bidunga is ranked as the No. 1 overall player available in the portal by 247Sports. Bidunga has strong ties to The Hoosier State, as he played at Kokomo High School and still holds strong connections to the Indiana basketball program.

Unfortunately, the Hoosiers don't appear to be in the running to land his services through the transfer portal. Bidunga's list of portal destinations is down to four teams, and Indiana didn't make the cut. Not landing Bidunga hurts, but things could go from bad to worse for Indiana if he ends up playing for a Big Ten rival.

Michigan among Flory Bidunga's possible portal landing spots

Earlier this week, 247Sports logged a prediction for Bidunga to end up at Texas Tech. However, the Red Raiders no longer appear to be in the running to land his services.

According to Jeff Goodman, Bidunga's list of finalists at this time consists of Duke, Michigan, St. John's, and Louisville. He is set to visit Louisville on Friday, and figures to take visits to his other finalists in the coming days.

Coming off a National Championship in Year 2 of the Dusty May era, Indiana fans do not want to see Bidunga donning the maize and blue next season.

Flory Bidunga at Michigan would be a Hoosier fan's worst nightmare

Indiana basketball fans had to watch as one of their own led Michigan to the national title on Monday night. May was born and raised in The Hoosier State, as he was born in Terre Haute and graduated from Eastern Green High School in Bloomfield. He was then a team manager at Indiana under legendary head coach Bob Knight from 1996-2000, and was a video coordinator and administrative assistant for the Hoosiers from 2002-05.

Indiana missed out on May when he left Florida Atlantic for the Michigan job two offseasons ago. At the time, Mike Woodson was given one more year in Bloomington before being fired following the 2024-25 campaign.

Predicting 2 Indiana basketball Transfer Portal commits coming this week

Missing out on May still stings, as the early returns in the Darian DeVries era have been underwhelming. May and DeVries both leaned on the transfer portal heavily this past season, and both athletic departments gave them substantial funding to do so. However, May led Michigan to a natty while DeVries and Indiana missed the NCAA Tournament altogether.

If May is able to land a former Indiana Mr. Basketball in Bidunga, it would only pour salt in the wound for Hoosier fans. Seeing May and Bidunga pair up in Ann Arbor would be a rough look for IU.
