The Indiana Hoosiers are officially one commit watch for one of the most coveted prospects in the country.

5-star WR Monshun Sales has yet to make a commitment decision, but one could be coming soon. Sales has wrapped up all of his Official Visits and has now entered decision-making mode. Indiana is in good shape, as Rivals' Greg Smith and Steve Wiltfong have both logged expert predictions for Sales to end up in Bloomington. Furthermore, the Rivals Industry Consensus gives Indiana a strong 81.7% chance to earn a commitment from Sales.

With that being said, nothing is set in stone. Sales' list of contenders is down to Indiana, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and LSU. That is some stiff competition for Curt Cignetti and company, but there's one program that presents the biggest threat to Indiana in Sales' recruitment.

Curt Cignetti needs to fend off Ryan Day and Ohio State in the Monshun Sales sweepstakes

The Ohio State Buckeyes pose a serious threat to Indiana in the race for Sales. Ohio State has been a factory when it comes to producing elite wide receiver talent in recent years.

Recent Buckeye wideouts now shining in the NFL include Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr, and Terry McLaurin. Ohio State also still has Jeremiah Smith in Columbus, and he figures to compete for the Heisman Trophy this upcoming season.

Ryan Day has shown he can recruit and develop premier receiving talent, and there's no doubt that Day and his staff made that clear to Sales during his Official Visit to Columbus last month. Brian Hartline is now leading the USF program, but new Ohio State WR coach Cortez Hankton has plenty of NFL names to point to as well.

During his previous stops at LSU and Georgia, Hankton recruited and coached an impressive group of receivers including Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr., George Pickens, Mecole Hardman, Ladd McConkey, and Riley Ridley. With that in mind, fending off Day and the Buckeyes isn't an easy task for Cignetti and the Hoosiers.

Beating Ohio State in the race for Monshun Sales would be extra sweet for Curt Cignetti and Indiana

As Sales goes through his decision-making process, Indiana football fans are waiting with bated breath. If he ends up choosing to play for the Hoosiers, Sales would become Indiana's first-ever 5-star high school recruit in program history.

Landing Sales alone would be a huge recruiting win for Indiana, but beating out Ohio State would make it even sweeter. The Hoosiers and Buckeyes have built up quite the rivalry on the gridiron over the past two seasons. Ohio State defeated Indiana back in 2024, which is still Cignetti's only loss against Big Ten competition during his time at the helm of the IU program.

Cignetti and the Hoosiers got their revenge against the Buckeyes in last December's Big Ten Championship Game. The win sparked Indiana's postseason run to its first-ever National Championship.

With the Hoosiers and Buckeyes locked in a high-stakes recruiting battle, Cignetti can make a massive statement by landing a commitment from Sales in the coming weeks.
