The Indiana Hoosiers are set to endure a significant roster rebuild heading into Year 2 of the Darian DeVries era. IU's group of seniors consisting of Lamar Wilkerson, Tucker DeVries, Tayton Conerway, Sam Alexis, Reed Bailey, and Conor Enright accounted for nearly 78% of the minutes played and 84.1% of the scoring from this past season.

Soon-to-be-senior Nick Dorn is slated to be Indiana's top returning scorer, but he finished the season 6th on the Hoosiers averaging 8.1 points per game. After Dorn, IU's next returning scorer is Trent Sisley, who officially announced his plans to return to Indiana next season.

Trent Sisley set to return to Indiana for sophomore season

On Tuesday, On3's Joe Tipton reported that Sisley will return to Indiana for the 2026-27 season. Sisley finished his freshman season averaging 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 43% from the field.

Hailing from Santa Claus, IN, Sisley began his collegiate career in promising fashion. Over his first 14 games with the cream and crimson, Sisley averaged 7.1 points while playing 18.9 minutes per game.

However, his playing time dipped significantly in the second half of the season. In Indiana's last 16 games, the 6'8" 225-pound forward played just 8.4 minutes per game and contributed 1.6 points per game.

Needless to say, finding more consistency will be a major key for Sisley as he enters his sophomore season. If he is able to space the floor and knock down shots from the outside, Indiana's scoring depth will be in much better shape next season than it was this past season.

A lot of Indiana's roster for next season has yet to be decided, but as it stands, Sisley should be in line for an increased role for the Hoosiers when the season rolls around in the fall. The potential is there for Sisley to improve, as he holds the Heritage Hills High School career scoring record with 1,715 points to his name. He was able to reach that record in just three seasons at Heritage Hills before transferring to Monteverde Academy.
