Darian DeVries' first season at the helm of the Indiana basketball program resulted in IU missing out on the NCAA Tournament once again. The Hoosiers had several glaring issues plague them throughout the season, but the most noteworthy was the lack of a true center.
Braylon Mullins' March Madness heroics put salt in the wound for IU basketball fans
The Big Ten is full of great players at the center position on a yearly basis, and IU simply didn't have the size or length to compete with the competition this season.
DeVries has already stated that addressing the front court is priority No. 1 for the Hoosiers during the offseason, and a top target just became available through the transfer portal.
Saint Mary's center Andrew McKeever is the perfect transfer portal target for Indiana
Long-time Saint Mary's head coach Randy Bennett left for the Arizona State job last week, and several players have announced their intentions to enter the portal amid the coaching change.
According to Joe Tipton of On3, Saint Mary's center Andrew McKeever plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on April 7. McKeever is a 7'3" center who has appeared in 53 games with 10 starts over the last two seasons for the Gaels. With two years of eligibility remaining, he becomes one of the hottest names on the market.

This past season, McKeever emerged as one of the top mid-major rebounders in the country. He led the WCC in rebounds per game with 9.2, and his size and rebounding ability are exactly what DeVries and the Hoosiers need next season.
Indiana needs plenty of rebounding help next season
Tucker DeVries paced Indiana with 5.3 rebounds per game in 2025-26, which is nearly 4 rebounds lower than McKeever's average. Furthermore, DeVries' 5.3 boards per game came while playing 34.2 minutes per game, while McKeever brought down 9.2 rebounds per game playing just 23.2 minutes per game.
As a team, the Hoosiers finished 13th in the Big Ten averaging 32.4 total rebounds per game. They finished dead last in the conference when it comes to the offensive glass, as they brought down just 8.2 offensive rebounds per game. The lack of second chance opportunities limited Indiana's offensive ceiling, and left fans frustrated with way too many one-and-done trips.
McKeever is also an efficient scorer, as he shot a strong 50% from the floor en route to scoring 8.2 points per game this season. Indiana needs plenty of help down low, and McKeever could be the man for the job.
