As the No. 1 WR and the No. 13 overall player in the 2027 class, the recruiting race for 5-star WR Monshun Sales has been closely-followed for the last several months. Sales hails from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, and the Indiana Hoosiers are right in the mix to land his services.
Sales took an Official Visit to Bloomington back in April, and it went well enough for him to list Indiana as one of his contending finalists. The Hoosiers even received an expert prediction from Rivals' Steve Wiltfong to win the Sales sweepstakes.

But over the last few weeks Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU have all made serious pushes for the 5-star talent. Sales most recently took an Official Visit to Columbus to meet with Ryan Day and the Buckeyes this past weekend, and now superstar Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith is aiding in the Buckeyes' recruiting efforts.

Smith has established himself as arguably the best wide receiver in college football, and there's no doubt that the Buckeyes are using his prowess to help recruit Sales away from Indiana. Following Sales' visit to Columbus, Smith showed the elite prospect some love on social media in an effort to recruit him.

Having Smith recruit other receivers gives Ohio State a strong recruiting edge, but Indiana has plenty of receiving talent to point to as well.
Indiana has seen elite receiving production under Curt Cignetti
This past season, the Hoosiers boasted one of the most lethal receiving combinations in the country with Omar Cooper Jr. and Elijah Sarratt. The pair played a vital role in Indiana's National Championship-winning season, and both are now off to the NFL. Cooper was drafted in the first round with the 30th overall selection by the Jets, while Sarratt was taken in the fourth round as the 115th overall pick by the Ravens.
Looking ahead, Indiana has a great chance to feature another deadly WR combo this upcoming season in the form of Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh. Both Becker and Marsh were recently ranked in the Top-5 of ESPN's 2026 wide receiver rankings, which gave the pair even more hype heading into the new season.
Ohio State has proven to be a factory when it comes to recruiting and developing wide receivers, so Hoosiers fans are seating their presence in Sales' recruitment. However, it's worth mentioning that WR coach Brian Hartline was responsible for a lot of that receiving success, and he is now off to be the head coach at USF.
As Sales nears the end of his calendar of Official Visits, a decision from the Lawrence North superstar could be coming sooner rather than later. As one of the most coveted prospects in the nation, his commitment decision is sure to send shockwaves through the college football world no matter where he decides to go.
