Year 1 of the Darian DeVries era in Bloomington yielded a disappointing 18-14 season that saw the Indiana Hoosiers miss the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and the 8th time in the last 10 years. DeVries is in the midst of a roster rebuild for 2026, meaning there will be plenty of new faces donning the cream and crimson next season.
Indiana hosting a trio of transfers could be the building blocks for Darian DeVries
As DeVries and his staff continue to navigate the college basketball transfer portal, Indiana's incoming recruiting class could have a chance to contribute early on in 2026. The class is ranked No. 25 in the country and features a trio of top-80 players in 4-star small forward Vaughn Karvala, 4-star combo guard Prince-Alexander Moody, and 4-star small forward Trevor Manhertz.
All three have impressed playing against the top players in the country in recent weeks, but an injury to Karvala this week has Hoosier fans on edge.
4-star Indiana commit Vaughn Karvala suffers injury in Nike Hoop Summit
Playing in the Nike Hoop Summit this week, Karvala suffered an apparent knee injury and needed to be helped off the court. According to NBA.com's Krysten Peek, Karvala's knee hyperextended when he collided with Tyran Stokes. Since then, no further update has been provided.

Karvala is the highest-ranked recruit in Indiana's 2026 recruiting class, coming in as the No. 51 overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports. He committed to Indiana on November 1 and officially signed on November 17.
Karvala is a 6'6" forward who is originally from Wisconsin, but played his senior season for CIA Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, AZ. He shined at the Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, IN last week and was putting forth a strong performance at the Nike Hoop Summit before suffering the injury.
Given the status of Indiana's 2026-27 roster at this time, Karvala could compete for solid minutes as a true freshman - so long as his injury doesn't sideline him for a significant amount of time. Needless to say, Hoosier fans are hoping he is able to get back on the hardwood quickly.
