As Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers work to round out their 2027 recruiting class, they are also turning some attention to the 2028 class. Only a handful of 2028 recruits have announced commitments, but schools across the country have targets on their radar.

In Bloomington, one player Cignetti and his staff are pursuing is 4-star QB Lukas Prock. Hailing from Princeton, NJ Prock is one of the top gunslingers in the 2028 class. Specifically, he is ranked as the No. 7 quarterback and No. 68 overall prospect in the 2028 recruiting cycle according to Rivals.

Prock has drawn the attention of Power 4 schools across the nation and has a list of offers that exceeds 30 programs. However, he has already narrowed down his list of contenders to five teams. To the delight of Indiana football fans, the Hoosiers are among that group.

Along with Indiana, the finalists in Prock's recruitment include Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida, and Ohio State. The Rivals Industry Consensus currently has Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in the lead, giving OSU a 21.9% chance to land Prock. However, it is still extremely early in the process and Indiana is firmly in the mix.

Playing for Hun High School in New Jersey, Prock is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he threw for 4,330 yards and 41 touchdowns with just 7 interceptions. He also added 11 rushes for 154 yards and a touchdown with his legs.

Heading into a pivotal junior season this fall, Prock's recruitment is sure to heat up in the coming months. He is likely to visit each of his finalists during the season this fall, and it will be interesting to see when he decides to head to Bloomington.

Indiana does not currently have a commit in the 2028 cycle. Indiana's 2027 class features just one quarterback, which comes in the form of 3-star Jameson Purcell. He is ranked as the No. 34 QB in the 2027 cycle.

With a Rivals Industry rating of 92.33, Prock has a chance to become Indiana's highest-ranked high school recruit. That is -- unless 5-star Monshun Sales commits to the Hoosiers first. His decision is slated to come next week, and Hoosier football fans are waiting on the edge of their seats. Sales has a Rivals Industry rating of 98.31 and is ranked as the No. 2 WR and No. 8 overall prospect in the 2027 class.

Cignetti has shown he can get elite results from his quarterbacks. Both Kurtis Rourke and Fernando Mendoza shined during their respective seasons in Bloomington, with Mendoza winning the Heisman Trophy during Indiana's National Championship season. That kind of development is extremely appealing, and IU fans are hoping it makes a lasting impact on Prock during his recruitment process.
