Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers put together a strong start to the week by landing three commitments via the transfer portal. Former Notre Dame point guard Markus Burton headlines the group, while former Duke guard Darren Harris and Georgia Tech shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf also figure to make an immediate impact in Bloomington.
Those are solid additions, but DeVries still needs to greatly improve Indiana's front court for next season. Standing at 6'6" Mustaf is the tallest portal addition thus far, but after IU struggled mightily to find size and physicality at the 4 and 5 positions this past season, finding a big body power forward and/or true center would help DeVries immensely in his second season at the helm of the Indiana basketball program.
DeVries is pulling out all the stops for Alabama forward Aiden Sherrell, who visited Bloomington over the weekend. Furthermore, Colorado forward Sebastian Rancik is slated to visit Indiana later this week. Adding one or both of Sherrell and Rancik would fix IU's biggest roster weakness at this point in time.
Indiana set to host Colorado forward Sebastian Rancik on Thursday
According to Jeff Rabjohns of Peegs.com, Rancik has scheduled a visit to Indiana for Thursday, April 16. Sherrell seems to be the top priority, but landing the 6'11" Rancik would give IU some much-needed size and depth in the front court.
Rancik is ranked as the No. 98 overall player and No. 24 power forward in the portal according to 247Sports. He spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career with the Buffaloes and averaged 12.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game over the course of 29 games this past season.

Rancik originally hails from Bratislava, Slovakia, and came to the United States for his freshman year of high school. He played at Jserra Catholic in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and was rated as a 3-star prospect and ranked as the No. 148 overall player and No. 31 power forward in the 2024 recruiting class.
Rancik isn't much of a rim protector, but he can move the ball around and spread the floor with his versatility. He shot 40.4% from the floor, 33.1% from three, and 86.5% from the free-throw line this past season. That kind of skill set could make for an ideal fit in DeVries' offensive system. Plus, it would complement Sherrell's skill set as a physical rim protector if DeVries is able to land both.
