Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers had a strong start to the week by adding three players to the 2026-27 roster through the transfer portal. DeVries and his staff added Georgia Tech shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf, Duke guard Darren Harris and Notre Dame point guard Markus Burton.
The moves have Indiana skyrocketing up the college basketball transfer portal class rankings, and the stars could be aligning for the class to get even better sooner rather than later.
Indiana the favorite to land Alabama power forward Aiden Sherrell
The Hoosiers welcomed four transfer targets to Bloomington over the weekend. So far, DeVries has landed commitments from three of them. The lone visitor not yet committed to IU is Alabama star power forward Aiden Sherrell. However, DeVries and company could be on the verge of some good news.

According to Jeff Goodman, Indiana is the favorite to land Sherrell following his visit to Bloomington.

Sherrell is ranked as the No. 12 overall player and No. 5 power forward in the portal according to 247Sports. Adding him to a portal class that already consists of Mustaf, Harris, and Burton would be a huge win for DeVries and the Hoosiers.
Sherrell owns a solid 6'11" 255-pound frame and started all 34 games for the Crimson Tide this past season. He averaged 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, and shot 53.9% from the floor.
He is also a strong rim protector, as he ranked second in the SEC averaging 2.2 blocks per game this past season. The Hoosiers did not have a player of that caliber on the roster, as Indiana ranked 13th in the Big Ten with 2.7 blocks per game. Needless to say, Sherrell's presence would help change that.
The momentum seems to be in Indiana's favor, but it's up to DeVries and executive director of basketball Ryan Carr to capitalize. At this point, seeing Sherrell go anywhere other than Bloomington would be a tough sight to see for Indiana basketball fans.
