The world of Indiana Hoosier athletics has plenty of intriguing storylines to follow as we head into the weekend. To get you ready for all the action, here are some key headlines to know as a busy weekend of sports is set to begin.

Indiana Football set for first road test of the season

After player their first four games of the season at home, the Indiana football program hits the road for the first time this weekend. The Hoosiers are set to take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday night in Piscataway. Indiana rolls into SHI Stadium ranked as the No. 6 team in the country with a 4-0 record while Rutgers is 1-3. Thus, it's not surprising to see the Hoosiers listed as 24-point favorites. However, Indiana's RB depth is a major concern heading into Week 5, and is a situation worth monitoring up until kick-off.

This will be the first time that Indiana goes up against Rutgers in the Curt Cignetti era. Kick-off between the Hoosiers and Scarlet Knights is slated for 8 p.m. ET. Find all of the pregame information you need with our full Indiana vs Rutgers viewing guide here.

Former Hoosier Kahlil Benson earns NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month honors

It's safe to say Kahlil Benson is no longer flying under the NFL radar. Earlier this week, Benson was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for September. After going undrafted earlier this spring, Benson made the Chiefs' 53-man roster and was named their starting left tackle going into Week 1. He's made the most with his opportunity, as he's allowed just six total pressures through three games, which is the 3rd-fewest in the NFL. Congrat, Kahlil!

Men's basketball among final contenders for 5-star prospect Darius Wabbington

The recruiting battle for 5-star prospect Darius Wabbington is coming down to the wire, and Indiana is firmly in the mix. Darian DeVries has the Hoosiers among Wabbington's final three contenders which also includes Arizona and Illinois. Owning a 6'11" frame, Wabbington is heralded as the No. 12 overall player and No. 2 center in the country for the 2027 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports.

Samet Yigitoglu’s Big Ten readiness will be vital for Indiana's success this season

DeVries has yet to land a 5-star commit during his tenure in Bloomington, but he appears to now be closer than ever. As it stands, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class features 4-star guard Chase Branham and 7-foot center Felix Kiehlneker.

Indiana WBB secures historic commitment from 5-star Azy Jackson

Teri Moren and the Indiana women's basketball team secured a massive recruiting win on Friday. 5-star prospect Azy Jackson chose Indiana over USC, Cal, North Carolina, and Kansas. She becomes the third commit to join Indiana's 2027 recruiting class, joining 4-stars Brookeslee Colvin and Finley Parker.

Jackson is a 6'4" forward from Suquamish, WA, and is ranked as the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2027 SC Next 100. She averaged 14.6 points and 14.8 rebounds per game as a junior last season at Bonney Lake High School in Washington. Unfortunately, Jackson tore her ACL in July and will miss her upcoming senior campaign. However, she is expected to be fully recovered and ready to roll for her freshman season in Bloomington.

Men's soccer prepares for Top-5 matchup vs Maryland

The IU men's soccer team is off to an 8-0-2 start to the season, and is currently ranked as the No. 2 team in the country. The Hoosiers are set for their toughest battle yet, as the 4th-ranked Maryland Terrapins are in town on Friday night for a Top-5 matchup. Maryland is 6-1-1 on the season.
