The battle for 5-star WR Monshun Sales continues on as the highly-touted prospect is in the midst of a busy spring schedule of official visits.

Sales, who hails from Indianapolis and is ranked as the No. No. 1 overall player in The Hoosier State and the No. 1 wide receiver in the country according to 247Sports, is arguably the biggest name on the market in the 2027 recruiting class. His list of contenders is down to five finalists, which includes the Indiana Hoosiers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas Longhorns, Miami Hurricanes, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Earlier this month, Rivals' Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Sales to stay local and end up in Bloomington playing for the Cream and Crimson. It's a development that gives Indiana a ton of momentum in Sales' recruitment, but nothing is set in stone yet.

Sales' recruitment will reach a fever pitch this weekend as he takes an official visit down to Tuscaloosa.

Indiana and Alabama locked in high-stakes recruiting battling for 5-star WR Monshun Sales

Sales' first official visit was to Indiana, and his second one of the spring is lined up for this weekend at Alabama starting on Friday, May 29. Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide staff are sure to roll out the red carpet for the can't-miss prospect, and it's clear that this weekend carries a ton of weight in Sales' recruitment.

Sales plays high school football at Lawrence North on the east side of Indianapolis. He obviously has a firm connection to The Hoosier State, and has taken many visits to Bloomington over the past few years. However, that doesn't mean Sales is a lock to pick Indiana.

Sales also has family roots to the state of Alabama. Sales' family is originally from Alabama and he was a Crimson Tide fan as a kid. He even had a nickname of "Bama" growing up. Those ties, as well as a relentless pursuit from DeBoer and company, have the Crimson Tide as serious contenders for Sales' services.

Monshun Sales has more official visits lined up

While this weekend is a massive one for Sales' recruitment, it would be rather surprising to see a commitment come before he visits his other finalists. After wrapping up his Alabama visit this weekend, Sales has official visits planned for Texas on June 5, Ohio State on June 12, and Miami (FL) on June 19.

All five finalists have plenty to offer, but none boast the recent success like Indiana. The Hoosiers are 27-2 under Curt Cignetti and are coming off a perfect 16-0 National Championship-winning season. Sales has shown Indiana plenty of love on social media in recent months, and seems to have a solid relationship with the coaching staff.

Cignetti has yet to land a 5-star recruit at Indiana, but he could be close to changing that with Sales. Holding off Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, and Miami won't be easy, but Hoosier football fans have to like where Cignetti has positioned IU in Sales' recruitment.
