Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers are putting in work on the recruiting trail. Indiana's main target right now is 5-star WR Monshun Sales, who hails from right up the road at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis.

Sales is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the state of Indiana and the No. 1 wide receiver in the country according to 247Sports. Furthermore, he is ranked as the No. 7 overall recruit in the nation by the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Indiana has been in the mix for a while, but over the past several months the Hoosiers have been playing second fiddle to the Alabama Crimson Tide in Sales' recruitment. Back in December, Rivals' Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith logged expert predictions for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama to land Sales.

But now, the tides are turning.

Indiana predicted to land 5-star WR Monshun Sales

Cignetti and the Hoosiers are now running in the pole position in Sales' recruitment. Sales took an official visit to Bloomington at the end of April, and it appears to have gone well. Now, Indiana is considered the frontrunner to secure a commitment from the 5-star wideout.

On Thursday, Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Indiana to land Sales. It goes without saying that landing Sales would be a massive recruiting win for the Hoosiers.

Wiltfong's prediction is great news for Indiana, but the job isn't done yet. Sales has yet to commit, and he still has official visits scheduled throughout the spring and into the summer.

His upcoming calendar includes visits to Alabama on May 29, Texas on June 5, Ohio State on June 12, and Miami (FL) on June 19. The momentum is with the Hoosiers, but now Cignetti needs to make it official.

Sales would be a monster addition to Indiana's 2027 recruiting class

Indiana's 2027 recruiting class currently features just four players: 4-star CB Monsanna Torbet Jr, 3-star QB Jameson Purcell, 3-star S Garyon Hobbs, and 3-star OT Jeremiah Jones. Cignetti and company still have a lot of work to do if they want to land Sales, but things appear to be moving in the right direction.

Torbert is the highest-ranked player in the class, coming in as the No. 195 overall player and No. 26 cornerback in the country according to 247Sports. As a whole, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked as the No. 55 class in the country. Adding Sales to that group would undoubtedly move Indiana up in the recruiting rankings.

Alabama won't go quietly

While Indiana is now the current favorite, don't expect Alabama to go quietly. Sales' upcoming visit to Tuscaloosa on May 29 carries tremendous weight, and DeBoer and his staff figure to pull out all the stops. DeBoer has a solid track record of churning out elite WR talent, and he is sure to pitch that development to Sales.

Given the timing of Wiltfong's prediction, it seems that the Crimson Tide would need to hit it out of the park during Sales' visit later this month. It's not yet a done deal, but Hoosier fans have to love where Cignetti has Indiana in the running right now.
