Gabbs started his college basketball career in Bloomington playing for Mike Woodson. Hailing from Dayton, OH, Cubbs was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Ohio in 2022 and was rated as a 4-star prospect.
He saw significant minutes as a freshman, as he appeared in 33 games with 22 starts in 2023-24. In those games, he averaged 2.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while playing 21.7 minutes per contest. Cupps then appeared in just four games as a sophomore in 2024-25 before suffering a season-ending meniscus injury.
When Mike Woodson and IU parted ways, Cupps headed to the transfer portal. He wound up at Ohio State, but struggled to see the floor for the. Buckeyes. This past season, Cupps averaged just 1.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists coming off the bench for Jake Diebler's squad.
Now heading to the Missouri Valley Conference to play for the UIC Flames, Cupps figures to see plenty of playing time and a chance to prove himself. The Flames put together a 19-16 season in Year 2 under Rob Ehsan, and went 12-8 in MVC play.
