The Indiana basketball roster for 2026-27 is coming together. More moves still need to be made, but Monday was a strong day for Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers in the transfer portal.

DeVries landed three portal commits on the day: Georgia Tech shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf, Duke guard Darren Harris and Notre Dame point guard Markus Burton. Those additions have Indiana rising fast in the latest college basketball transfer portal class rankings.

DeVries' big day sends Indiana climing in transfer portal rankings

Industry experts are taking notice of Indiana's big day in the portal. Following the additions of Mustaf, Harris, and Burton, Indiana now owns the No. 4 transfer portal class in the country according to 247Sports. The Hoosiers trail only Louisville, Texas, and Tennessee.

A lot of moving pieces still need to be settled, but that is definitely a good sign for DeVries and Indiana at this point in time.

Burton is the headline of the class so far. He has been one of the top scorers in the ACC over the last three seasons, and led the ACC with 21.3 points per game as a sophomore in 2024-25. He is the highest-ranked player in IU's portal class thus far, coming in as the No. 24 overall player and No. 7 point guard available.

Last season, DeVries' inaugural transfer portal class consisted Tucker DeVries from West Virginia, Lamar Wilkerson from Sam Houston State, Reed Bailey from Davidson, Nick Dorn from Elon, Tayton Conerway from Troy, Jasai Miles from North Florida, Josh Harris from North Florida, Conor Enright from DePaul, Sam Alexis from Florida, and Jason Drake from Drexel. The class was ranked No. 10 in the country and ultimately underwhelmed. Looking ahead, none of those players will be on the 2026-27 roster.

Darian DeVries can continue building IU's portal class by adding Aiden Sherrell

Following an impressive Monday, DeVries still has a strong chance to add to IU's portal class this week.

Alabama forward Aiden Sherrell visited Bloomington over the weekend, and Indiana is still firmly in the mix to land his services. He is ranked as the No. 12 overall player and the No. 5 power forward on the market according to 247Sports.

After adding three guards on Monday, DeVries now needs to shift his focus to the front court. The Hoosiers lacked size and athleticism in the front court this past season, and Sherrell could vastly improve that area of the roster as DeVries prepares for Year 2 in Bloomington.
