Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers are still on the search for their first commitment via the transfer portal. DeVries and company need to find essentially a whole new roster through the portal, as six players from last year's team are out of eligibility and five players have entered the portal looking for a new opportunity away from Bloomington. As it stands, only Trent Sisley has confirmed his intention to return to the Hoosiers next season.
In-state transfer snubs Indiana as urgency builds for Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers
DeVries and Indiana are hosting a trio of transfer point guards this weekend, with Notre Dame star Markus Burton's visit getting underway on Sunday. Burton is one of the top names on the market, as he is ranked as the No. 22 overall player and No. 7 point guard in the portal by 247Sports.
Indiana could be in the driver's seat to land Burton's services following the latest news out of the portal.

Another team in contention for Burton is the Houston Cougars. Burton visited Kelvin Sampson and company earlier in the week, but the Cougars have since signed a different point guard.
Jon Rothstein has reported that LSU point guard Dedan Thomas has committed to Houston through the portal. Thomas is ranked as the No. 15 overall player and No. 4 point guard in the portal, and his move to Houston helps DeVries and Indiana tremendously.

Averaged 15.3 PPG and 6.5 APG last season.
Thomas going to Houston all but knocks the Cougars out of the race to land Burton. That opens the door for DeVries and Indiana to roll out the red carpet over the next few days on his visit to Bloomington. Furthermore, On3's Jamie Shaw has even logged an expert prediction for Indiana to land Burton.
Burton is one of the top scorers on the market. He led all ACC freshman in scoring with 17.5 points per game in 2023-24, and then led the ACC in scoring with 21.3 points per game as a sophomore in 2024-25. He also shot 44.2% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc. He suffered a season-ending ankle injury after just 10 games this past season, putting up 18.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 48.9% from the floor.
Despite coming off a significant injury, Burton remains a top target for DeVries and the Hoosiers. Needing to find plenty of scoring production and depth in the portal, DeVries needs to give it his all to land Burton. Burton is scheduled to be in Bloomington through Tuesday, and Hoosier fans are hoping he decides Bloomington is his new home.
