It didn't take long for the college basketball transfer portal action to heat up. The portal opened up on Tuesday, and over 1,500 players across the country are looking for new opportunities.

Indiana and Darian DeVries need to make several additions through the portal, as the Hoosiers lose the vast majority of their minutes played and scoring production from last season.

DeVries has a lot of needs when it comes to revamping Indiana's roster for 2026-27, but finding a scorer who can help replace Lamar Wilkerson's production from this past season is a big priority.

This Big Ten landing spot for Flory Bidunga would be Indiana’s worst-case scenario

That could be found in Notre Dame star Markus Burton, who averaged 19.1 points per game over three seasons and 69 games with the Fighting Irish. Burton is on Indiana's radar, and is set to visit Bloomington this weekend.

Notre Dame's Markus Burton to visit Indiana from April 12-14

Burton is slated to be Indiana's first portal visit this weekend when he comes to Bloomington from April 12-14.

Burton received plenty of hype entering his junior season at Notre Dame. The Mishawaka, IN native was named to the Preseason All-ACC First Team, and on watch lists for the Naismith Trophy, Bob Cousy Award, and Wooden Award.

Unfortunately, his season was cut short after just 10 games due to an injury to his left ankle that required season-ending surgery. In those 10 games, he averaged 18.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 48.9% from the floor.

After a solid rookie campaign in which he averaged 17.5 points per game to lead all freshmen in the ACC, Burton put together a sensational sophomore season in 2024-25. He led the ACC in scoring with 21.3 points per game and shot 44.2% from the floor and 37.5% from three-point land.

Despite an injury-riddled junior season, Burton is one of the top scorers available in the portal. More specifically, he is ranked as the No. 22 overall player and the No. 7 point guard on the market by 247Sports.

With so much scoring production to find, Hoosier fans are hoping that his visit to Bloomington this weekend leaves a lasting impact.
