It's an important weekend for Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers on the transfer portal front.
DeVries has plenty of needs when re-shaping IU's roster for next season. The Hoosiers have yet to receive a portal commitment, and while it's still early, urgency is building for DeVries. Three transfer guards are visiting Bloomington this weekend, which presents a great opportunity for the Hoosiers to land their first portal commitment.

That urgency is heightened when considering the fact that an in-state transfer target is no longer considering coming to Indiana through the portal.
Notre Dame's Jalen Haralson no longer considering Indiana
Notre Dame freshman forward Jalen Haralson put together an impressive rookie campaign in South Bend by leading the Fighting Irish with 16.2 points per game. He started 23 of the 27 games he appeared in this season, and shot 51.5% from the floor while also adding 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists while playing 26.6 minutes per contest.
Haralson hails from The Hoosier State, as he played his high school basketball at La Lumiere School in La Porte, IN. The Hoosiers were in contention to land his services coming out of high school, as he took an official visit to Bloomington August 31, 2024. However, he would commit to Notre Dame the following month on September 25.
After just one season in South Bend, Haralson entered the portal earlier this week. Given his Indiana roots and previous ties to the Hoosiers, IU became a possible portal landing spot for the talented 6'7" forward.
However, Haralson is no longer considering Indiana as a possible new home. According to Jon Rothstein, Haralson has cut his list of possible portal destinations down to Tennessee, Ohio State, and North Carolina.

Averaged 16.2 PPG and 4.0 RPG last season.
Haralson is an efficient scorer, but he is not an effective three-point shooter. He shot just 20.0% from beyond the arc this past season, and that inefficiency from deep may not be the best fit in DeVries' offensive system.
With that being said, Haralson's decision to no longer consider the Hoosiers puts some heightened urgency on DeVries for this weekend's visits from Notre Dame guard Markus Burton, Duke guard Darren Harris, and Georgia Tech guard Jaeden Mustaf.
Indiana is locked in recruiting battles with all three players, so this weekend is pivotal in IU's efforts to build up the 2026-27 roster.
