Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers have had a roller coaster of a few weeks when it comes to high school recruiting.
Indiana's 2027 recruiting class has seen its two highest-ranked commits, 4-star WR Ja'Hyde Brown and 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr, both abandon their commitments. However, Cignetti has also added a pair of 2027 commits in 3-star DB Rico Jackson and 3-star OT Mason McDermott. As it stands, Indiana's Indiana's 2027 recruiting class currently features six total players and ranks as the No. 48 class in the country according to 247Sports.
But is Cignetti on the verge of landing his next 2027 commit? One recruiting expert sure thinks so.
Indiana predicted to land 2027 WR Jordan Carrasquillo
On Thursday afternoon, the Hoosiers landed a national prediction from Rivals’ Chad Simmons to land 2027 WR Jordan Carrasquillo. Cignetti first extended an offer to the 3-star prospect back on January 17, 2025, and the Hoosiers have been heavily involved in his recruitment ever since.
Simmons' prediction is noteworthy given the fact that he is 6-for-6 on his 2027 predictions so far this year. Furthermore, he is 52-for-60 (86.7%) in his career with these types of predictions. In addition to Indiana, Carrasquillo has collected Power 4 offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Maryland, Wake Forest, and Boston College.
Hailing from Alpharetta, Georgia, Carrasquillo is ranked as the No. 104 wide receiver in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Owning a 6'2" 195-pound frame, Carrasquillo finished junior season at Milton High School with 33 catches for 586 yards (17.8 YPC) and 7 touchdowns.
Carrasquillo first visited Bloomington this past fall when the Hoosiers hosted Wisconsin on November 15 and cruised to a 31-7 victory. Since then, Carrasquillo has been back on campus on several occasions and has an official visit lined up for later this month on May 29. Thus, Cignetti could be on the verge of sealing the deal with the highly-touted prospect.
Curt Cignetti continues building Indiana's 2027 WR core
As it stands, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class features just one wide receiver. That comes in the form of in-state prospect Branden Sharpe, who gave Indiana a verbal commitment last week. The Brownsburg native heads to Bloomington ranked as the No. 79 wide receiver in the country and No. 13 overall player in the state of Indiana according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Cignetti's biggest 2027 recruiting target remains Lawrence North 5-star WR Monshun Sales. Like Carrasquillo, Sales is also predicted to end up in Bloomington. Sales is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the state of Indiana and the No. 1 wide receiver in the country according to 247Sports. Furthermore, he is ranked as the No. 7 overall recruit in the nation by the 247Sports Composite Rankings. It goes without saying that securing an elite recruit of his caliber would undoubtedly be a massive recruiting win for Cignetti and the Hoosiers.
If Cignetti is able to officially seal the deal with both Carrasquillo and Sales, IU's 2027 group of wide receivers would be looking extremely solid. There is still work to do, but fans of Indiana football have to like the momentum that Cignetti is building right now.
