The recruiting race for one of the most coveted players in the 2027 class is heating up in a major way. Hailing from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Monshun Sales is ranked as the top overall player in the state of Indiana as well as the No. 1 WR and No. 9 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class according to 247Sports.
Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers have the inside track in Sales' recruitment, as Rivals' Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for IU to land the talented wideout last month. However, the Alabama Crimson Tide are coming on strong.
Sales took an official visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend, and posted plenty of pictures of his endeavors to social media. Kalen DeBoer and company made sure to focus on Sales' Alabama roots, as his family is from the Yellowhammer State and Sales grew up with the nickname "Bama."
As it turns out, DeBoer and his staff aren't the only figures from the Alabama program trying to lure Sales away from Indiana.
Alabama commits offer their pitch to Indiana 5-star target Monshun Sales
Over the weekend, several of the nation's top QB recruits took part in the Elite 11 showcase in Los Angeles. A handful of the top QB prospects in the country were in attendance, including Alabama commits Elijah Haven and Trent Seaborn.
In a social media post from 247Sports, participants at Elite 11 were asked to call out a player they were recruiting to their school. Haven and Seaborn both took the opportunity to make their pitches to Sales.
"Monshun Sales -- Bama," said Havens without hesitation.
Like DeBoer during Sales' visit over the weekend, Seaborn made sure to mention Sales' Alabama roots. "Monshun Sales man, come home man," Seaborn said. "You know it’s your home man, it’s where you were born."

Indiana and Alabama locked in tight recruiting battle
Sales showed plenty of love to Alabama over the weekend, but Indiana football fans should still feel good about where Cignetti and company stand right now. Following his Alabama visit, Sales told Brett Greenberg of 247Sports that Indiana and Alabama are his top two schools at this point in time.
Indiana was the first school that Sales took an official visit to this spring, as he visited Bloomington the weekend of April 24. That is a great sign that Sales is loving what the Hoosiers are selling, and his latest comments signal that IU is still right up there are the top of his list of contenders.

While Indiana and Alabama are the top choices right now, three other teams also remain in the conversation. Sales is still slated to take official visits to Texas, Ohio State, and Miami (FL) later this month. He will be in Austin on June 5, Columbus on June 12, and Coral Gables on June 19.
With that in mind, don't be surprised if the highly-touted prospect waits until all of his official visits have concluded to announce his commitment decision. Until then, Hoosier football fans will be waiting with bated breath.
