WNBA: Los Angeles Sparks Sign Former Indiana Great, Grace Berger to contract

The former Hoosier and seventh overall pick has been waived by the Indiana Fever and Lynx in her first two seasons

The Los Angeles Sparks organization announced Tuesday that they have has signed Grace Berger to a contract for the remainder of the 2026 season via the Sparks official website.

This makes back to back days a former Indiana Hoosier women's basketball player has been signed as the Seattle Storm re-signed Mackenzie Holmes to a contract yesterday.

The Seattle Storm take on the Los Angeles Sparks tonight, but Berger will not likely see action as she was just signed under 12 hours ago.

 Berger originally signed with Minnesota Lynx back on Feb. 7th after playing with the Indiana Fever.

Berger was WNBA 2nd All-Rookie Team member in 2023 for the Fever, but her role decreased in 2024 with the selection of No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark. During her two-years in Indianapolis, Grace Berger played 13.3 minutes per game, averaging 4.2 points and 1.9 assists per game in 47 appearances.

This past offseason, Berger played for OGM Ormanspor in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League, where she is averaged 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals, while shooting 44.7% from the field and 30.6% from three in 27 total games.

In 47 games over two WNBA seasons, the 26-year-old guard is averaging 3.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 44.1% from the field and 46.2% from three point range.

At Indiana in Bloomington, Berger was a four-time All-Big Ten first team player, Berger scored 1,841 career points, had 573 assists and 752 rebounds in her five years at IU. 

The Los Angeles Sparks are currently 4-8 overall sitting as the 9th seed in the standings with 32 games left on their regular season schedule, Berger should be able to help them make a playoff push if given minutes with her scoring ability.
