Top Indiana WBB recruit Maya Makalusky named Indiana Miss Basketball

Teri Moren's top recruit for the upcoming 2025 class Maya Makalusky was named Indiana Miss Basketball  this week after winning Gatorade Player of the Year in the state earlier in March.

Makalusky became the third player on next season’s 2025-26 roster to win Gatorade Player of the Year honors, joining Lenée Beaumont (Illinois) and Jules LaMendola (Texas).

Maya Makalusky finished the year averaging 22.1 points per game,1.3 assists, and 1.8 steals and 6.8 rebounds per game for Hamilton Southeastern High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She also shot a staggering 40.1 percent from 3-point range and 80.3 percent on free throws.

The last Indiana player to win Miss Indiana and Gatorade State Player of The Year in the same season was senior guard Sydney Parrish in 2020.

Maya will be joining a team that has made foru straight NCAA tournament appearances. TheIndiana Hoosiers made the NCAA tournament on Sunday's selection show. The women's basketball team received the 9-seedin the Birmingham Region and will take on the No. 8 seed Utah Utes today in their first-round matchup in Columbia, South Carolina.
