Indiana women’s basketball earned a NCAA tournament bid Sunday night, the committee placed the Hoosiers as a No. 9 seed in NCAA Tournament, to take on the Utah Utes in the first round.
After losing to No. 4 USC who is a 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, Indiana who lost in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals March 7 has been a team to watch seeding wise for all of the bracket watchers this weekend. The Hoosiers were a mainstay in ESPN Bracketologist Charlie Creme’s “Last Four Byes” along with Georgia Tech, Clemson and Oregon.

Indiana will head to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on No-8 seeded Utah out of the Big 12 conference. If Indiana advances to the Round of 32, a matchup with the No. 1 University of South Carolina would be likely take place with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line. Indiana lost to the Gamecocks in the Sweet 16 last season.
Utah finished 22-8 and finished in fourth place in the Big 12 Conference. The Utes are led by guard Gianna Kneepkens (19.2 ppg) and forward Maya Toure (13 ppg).
Teri Moren and Indiana have made the NCAA tournament six years in a row. This is the Hoosiers lowest seed in the tournament since the Hoosiers were a No. 10 seed in the 2019 Tournament.
Although they underachieved this season coming in as AP Top 25 team, they have quality wins against Baylor, Nebraska, Oregon and Ohio State. They also have competietive close losses to USC and UCLA both who are No. 1 seeds.
