It's only Tuesday but I would love to fast forward the week to Friday night, the College Football Playoffs are right around the corner and I for one cannot wait until kick off.
In the meantime I complied a list of the top 12 starting quarterbacks who are bound for greatness in this year's CFP.
Find out below my list of the best quarterbacks in the College Football Playoff.
1. Dillion Gabriel (Oregon Ducks)
Dillion Gabriel has started five full seasons in college football (63 games), two each with UCF and Oklahoma before his final year with Oregon this fall. The Heisman Trophy finalist has by far the most experience in the CFP.
Oregon has a first round bye week and will play the winner of Ohio State vs Tennessee in round two.
There are several reasons Oregon is the favorite to win it all, but No. 1 on that list (IMO) is the Dillon Gabriel to Tez Johnson connection.

- Passing: 297 of 406 (73.2%)

- Passing touchdowns: 28
- Interceptions: 6
- Quarterback rating: 166.6
- Carries: 63
- Rushing yards: 192
- Rushing touchdowns: 7
2. Quinn Ewers (Texas Longhorns)
Has former No.1 overall and "generational" five-star recruit lived up to the hype in college so far? Not quite, but the Southlake, Texas native has been stellar for the Longhorns taking them to back to back CFP appearances. Ewers has a 65% completion rate; 8,321 yards; 8 yards per attempt; 62 TD's to 21 INT's.
No. 12 seed Clemson (10-3) and No. 5 seed Texas (11-2) clash in the first round, pitting Cade Klubnik versus Quinn Ewers in round one.

3. Kurtis Rourke (Indiana Hoosiers)
Senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke has thrown for 2,827 yards and 27 touchdowns this year. In 11 games played, Rourke had a 70.4 completion percentage, connecting on 202 of the 287 passes he’s tossed.
Of his 85 incompletions this year, only four have been interceptions. According to ESPN Rourke’s quarterback rating is 85.7, which is third-best in the country for Rourke who finished ninth in the Heisman Trophy race.
Kurtis Rourke…I can’t quit ya! I still believe.

No. 10 seed Indiana will take on No. 7 seed Notre Dame in a road game Friday night in South Bend.
4. Drew Allar (Penn State Nittany Lions)
In 2024, Drew Allar completed 69% of passes for 2,894 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Allar has thrown for multiple touchdowns in six games and also rushed for 279 yards and six touchdowns.
His junior season had enough hype for him in first round talks for the NFL Draft but he annouced he will return for his senior season.

5. Cade Klubnik (Clemson Tigers)
The Clemson quarterback has completed 64% of his passes this season, throwing for 3,303 yards with 33 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He has added 458 rushing yards and has scored seven more touchdowns on the ground.

6. Riley Leonard (Notre Dame Fightin Irish)
The 6-4, 216-pound senior Riley Leonard will lead Notre Dame to take on the Indiana Hoosiers to kick off the playoff season Friday night and we at Hoosiers State of Mind can't wait for this epic in state rivalry matchup.

7. Will Howard (Ohio State Buckeyes)
Will Howard should be higher than 7 on this list but after the Michigan game I don't know if I can put my full trust in Howard, but I do trust the weapons he has at Ohio State. Also do we trust Chip Kelly and Ryan Day? There is a lot of questions left but not much time to figure it out as they host Tennessee on Saturday night at 8pm.

Senior quarterback Will Howard threw for 2,860 yards, with 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2024.
8. Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee Vols)
This season, Nico Iamaleava completed 65.7% of his attempts for 2,512 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s 11-2 as a starter.

199/303 (65.7%) completions
2,512 yards (209 YPG; 8.8 YPA)
19 TD/5 INT (1.7% INT rate)
Most importantly, a 10-2 record and a berth in the CFP.

9. Kevin Jennings (SMU Mustangs)
Despite opening the year as the backup to Preston Stone, Jennings has thrown for 3,050 yards and 22 touchdowns while adding 379 yards and five scores on the ground, leading SMU to their first playoff berth in school history.
SMU QB Kevin Jennings can give defenses fits with his dual-threat ability, but it especially matters as it relates to the QB run game. Used QB power early in the game to score against Clemson, then came back with a fake QB run and RB wheel for a TD.

In their first season in the ACC, the Mustangs cruised to a matching 11-2 record and clinched the final spot in the CFP after their 34-31 loss to Clemson in the conference title game.
10. Sam Leavitt (Arizona State Sun Devils)
Redshirt freshman quarterback Sam Leavitt is the youngest QB in the CFP at 19 years old but plays like a three or four year starting veteran.
In 10 games played, the freshman quarterback threw for 2,663 yards and 24 touchdowns while also rushing for 383 yards and five scores.
The Arizona State Sun Devils finished with an 11-2 record en route to their Big 12 Championship title win vs. Iowa State, earning a bye in the 2024 College Football Playoff.

11. Gunner Stockton (Georgia Bulldogs)
Gunner Stockon has never started a game in college football and his first may possibly be a second round match up in the CFB.
We don’t know if Carson Beck will be available for the College Football Playoff. Kirby Smart’s last update came more than a week ago, when he described Beck as looking “somber” after an MRI per AJC

Stockon played in just three games previously this season and seven in total, combining for 283 yards and just 25 career completions on 35 attempts.
12. Maddux Madsen (Boise State Broncos)
Let's get this out of the way, Maddux Madsen is last on this list but i still have faith in him, mainly his running back Ashton Jeanty but Maddux has shocked me all year with his solid play at signal caller.
The 5'10 211 pound sophomore Madsen has a 62% completion percentage, 2,714 yards, 22 touchdowns, 3 interceptions and has added 224 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns on the ground. Madsen’s also been sacked just 10 times.
Can you believe this freaking throw by Madsen!?

Could not have been placed any better, just incredible precision. NFL caliber.
3rd & 17, no less. And just a sophomore.
