Indiana Lands Two Special 'Teamers' in Transfer Portal

The Indiana Hoosiers special team just got a huge upgrade in the transfer portal over the weekend, landing a kicker and punter on Sunday.

UCF senior punter Mitchell McCarthy and Texas State kicker Brendan Franke both announced transfers to Indiana.

McCarthy has one year of eligibility remaining after punting for three seasons for the UCF Knights. Originally from Melbourne, Australia McCarthy trained at ProKick Australia.

McCarthy punted 40 times this fall for the Knights for an average of 44.1 yards per punt and a long of 56 yards.

Former Texas State kicker Brendan Franke previosly was a plackicker at Nebraska and Georgia State and now will be with his fourth school in five years at Indiana.

This fall at Texas State the Nebraska native averaged 64 yards per kick and he had 64 touchbacks in 78 kick-offs per 247Sports.

In his two seasons at Nebraska, Franke had 74 touchbacks on 116 kickoffs. He played in just four games at Georgia Southern and had nine touchbacks on 17 kickoffs.

The 6-foot-3 and 255-pound Franke has one year of eligibility remaining.
