The countdown is officially on. One of the most prized recruits in the country, 5-star WR Monshun Sales, is set to announce his commitment decision this Friday, July 17.
Playing for Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, the 6'5" 195-pound playmaker is ranked as the No. 2 WR and No. 7 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class by Rivals. Sales has garnered attention from Power 4 teams across the country, and Indiana is in a great position to land the in-state product.
But with Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, and LSU among his list of finalists, the competition is fierce. With that being said, staying local and picking the Indiana Hoosiers seems like the clear answer for Sales.
No program has more winning momentum than Indiana
When looking around the college football landscape, no program has more momentum than Indiana. What Cignetti has done in Bloomington is nothing short of remarkable, and under his leadership, the Hoosiers don't show any signs of slowing down.
Coming off a perfect 16-0 season that culminated in a historic National Championship, Bloomington is the place to be right now in college football. The Hoosiers have taken the sport by storm over the last two seasons, which has resulted in an overall record of 27-2. No other program can boast that kind of winning success.
Indiana's pursuit of elite 2028 QB just took a major step forward
Looking ahead, Indiana is among the preseason favorites to win the National Championship this upcoming season. With Cignetti at the helm, if Sales wants to be a part of something special, heading to Bloomington is the obvious choice.
Cignetti has proven he can develop elite WR talent
In just two seasons at Indiana, Cignetti has shown he can develop elite WR talent. This past season, both Omar Cooper Jr. and Elijah Sarratt were arguably the most dangerous receiving combinations in all of college football.
Now, both are off to the NFL. Cooper was drafted in the first round with the 30th overall selection by the Jets, and Sarratt went in the fourth round with the No. 155 overall pick to the Ravens. More first round receivers could be in Indiana's future, as both Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh are generating first round buzz already. Needless to say, Indiana's WR pipeline is looking good, and Sales has a chance to be a part of it.
Monshun Sales can make history with a commitment to Indiana
As it stands, the Rivals Industry Consensus gives Indiana a strong 81.7% chance secure a commitment from Sales on Friday. If that prediction comes true and Sales is Bloomington bound, he would be the first 5-star high school commit in Indiana football history. That kind of history would be just the latest historic feat for Cignetti's tenure at Indiana, and would make Sales an instant fan favorite.
Hoosier fans are hoping Sales stays local and chooses IU on Friday afternoon. He will announce his commitment decision live on The Pat McAfee Show at Noon ET.
