Westbrook-Ikhine played 21 offensive snaps, and was featured on two targets catching one pass for seven yards during the Miami Dolphins 33-8 loss to Indianapolis on Sunday.

The former Indiana Hoosier made his debut with his new team but it's off to a rocky start for Westbrook-Ikhine and the Dolphins. Tua Tagovialoa turned the ball over three times and was limited to 114 passing yards, Tyreek Hill only had 4 catches for 40 yards while, had 4 catches for only 30 yards receiving.

The Dolphins were completely outmatched by the Colts on offense, defense and special teams but the main department was coaching. This was the worst performance of the Mike McDaniel era with a blowout loss to Daniel Jones and the Colts on the road.

For the game, the offense managed 211 yards compared to the Colts' 418 yards. Tua Tagovailoa final passer rating of day was 51.7 was the lowest of his career while the defense made people a believer in Daniel Jones again, he went 22-of-29 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown, and zero turnovers.

Westbrook-Ikhine signed a two-year, $6.5 million deal with Miami following the best season of his career in 2024. The veteran receiver set career highs in targets (60), yards receiving (497) and touchdowns (nine) with the Tennessee Titans.

“He’s going to be extremely reliable,” Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith said. “I think ultimately if you talk to the guys that knew him in Tennessee and our exposure so far has been consistent work ethic. I think that’s ultimately where he puts himself in position to be successful is because he really is a student of the process, making sure he’s on the little things so, therefore, on Sundays he can be reliable for the quarterback and really the rest of the offense.”

As a Hoosiers, Westbrook-Ikhine had 144 receptions for 2,226 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career, with his best season coming in 2016 when he had 54 receptions for 996 yards and six touchdowns.

The Miami Dolphins will attempt to bounce back in Week 2 in their home opener against the New England Patriots.
