Darian DeVries is already making moves to stand out among the crowd when it comes to one of the top prospects in the state. Last week, DeVries and the Hoosiers extended an offer to 2029 prospect Micah Mohler, who is already making a name for himself at Austin High School.
It's a little crazy to think about the 2029 recruiting class with the 2026-27 season yet to begin, but it;s clear that Mohler is already becoming a coveted prospect in the 2029 cycle. He is a 6'5" 205-pound shooting guard who averaged an impressive 21.5 points per game during his freshman season. Furthermore, he averaged 19.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game playing on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit for the Midwest Basketball Club.
After receiving his offer from the Hoosiers, Mohler had some great things to say about the Indiana basketball program.
2029 target Micha Mohler discusses Indiana offer
When speaking to Peegs.com at the Charlie Hughes Showcase over the weekend, Mohler gave Indiana a rave review and discussed the possibility of playing college basketball for his hometown team.
"It's been my dream school ever since I was little," said Mohler. "It just made me want to go there even more."

Mohler's comments are common to see among recruits hailing from The Hoosier State. Bloomington is a premier destination for in-state hoops talent, and it's clear that Mohler shares that sentiment in the early days of his recruitment.
Darian DeVries looking to set the tone for Indiana's 2029 recruiting class
As previously mentioned, it's a little surreal to be thinking about the 2029 recruiting class at this point in time. The 2026 cycle just wrapped up, and the 2027 cycle is just beginning as less than 40 total players in the 2027 class have announced their commitments.
But DeVries is looking to get a head start on the 2029 cycle. Indiana is the third program to extend an offer to Mohler, joining Western Kentucky and Evansville. Given that Mohler is just a rising sophomore, his commitment decision likely won't come for a while. Hopefully, getting into the mix early pays off for DeVries and the Hoosiers.
The 2 most important players for Indiana basketball heading into the 2026 season
DeVries ended his first season in Bloomington with an 18-14 overall record to go along with a 9-11 mark in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers were considered a bubble NCAA Tournament team down the stretch, but losing six of their last seven games ultimately doomed IU's March Madness hopes.
Indiana's roster has undergone a complete overhaul this offseason, as Trent Sisley is the lone returning player from last year's team. IU's transfer portal class and incoming group of freshmen have plenty of potential and the talent appears to be there on paper. Now it's up to DeVries to make it all come together and lead the Hoosiers back to the NCAA Tournament.
