Curt Cignetti continues to ride the momentum of Indiana's historic 2024 and 2025 seasons on the recruiting trail. Currently ranked as the No. 29 class in the country by Rivals, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class has the potential to be the best in program history. Cignetti has gone a week without a commitment, but more could be on the way soon as Official Visit season treks on this weekend.

On Wednesday, Indiana's 2027 class got a big boost with the release of the latest 2027 Top Football Recruits Ranking list from 247Sports. Indiana WR commit Branden Sharpe is among the biggest risers in the rankings, and he has now earned a coveted 4-star ranking from 247Sports.
Indiana WR commit Branden Sharpe earns 4-star status in 247 recruiting rankings
Previously, Sharpe was rated as a 3-star prospect and ranked as the No. 825 overall recruit in the country for the 2027 cycle. Along with gaining a 4-star rating, Sharpe has moved all the way up to the No. 234 overall spot in the nation.
That 591-spot jump makes him among the biggest risers in the nation, and makes him Indiana's highest-ranked 2027 commit. It also gives Hoosier football fans a lot to be fired up about.

Sharpe is a local product, as he hails from Brownsburg and is considered one of the top talents in The Hoosier State. In the latest 247 rankings, he is ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the state of Indiana, and he is coming off a junior campaign that saw him collect 1,143 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns. Cignetti keeping him local is a big win for the Hoosiers.
“I would say the relationships I built with the coaches and the winning a National Championship,” Sharpe told Rivals following his commitment announcement last month. “Coming from a program that’s won two state championships, that winning culture is something I want to be around and I can see myself in that system.”
More recruiting wins could be coming Indiana's way
Indiana's 2027 class currently consists of 11 players, with Sharpe's 4-star ranking making him IU's fourth blue chip prospect in the class. He joins 4-star OT Mason McDermott, 4-star EDGE Myles Smith, and 4-star EDGE Reinaldo Perez in that group.
Looking to keep the momentum rolling, Cignetti and company are preparing for a pivotal weekend of Official Visits. A total of five highly-touted prospects are slated to be in Bloomington this weekend, and the Hoosiers are sure to roll out the red carpet. A strong weekend could lead to some verbal commitments coming in sooner rather than later.
Cignetti is also on the verge of landing Indiana's first-ever 5-star prospect. WR Monshun Sales is in the midst of a heated recruiting battle, and the Hoosiers are firmly in the mix. If Cignetti is able to seal the deal with the elite Lawrence North playmaker, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class would be in tremendous shape.
