Indiana's Week 3 matchup comes against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Two games into the season, the Hoosiers are already dealing some injuries that have caused Curt Cignetti to make some depth chart adjustments. Several backups have stepped up to see significant playing time, and that could continue in Week 3.
How to watch every former Hoosier in the NFL during Week 2
Here is a look at Indiana's injury report for Week 3 against Western Kentucky. The final official availability report will be announced two hours prior to kick-off.
Indiana Football Week 3 injury report
RB Khobie Martin: OUT
Khobie Martin suffered a broken forearm early in Week 1 against North Texas. In the following days, Cignetti stated that Martin will be out several weeks, and is targeting a return at some point mid-season. In the meantime, Indiana's backfield of Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr has been thriving, and they should be expected to carry the load with Martin sidelined.
CB AJ Harris: Game time decision
Starting cornerback AJ Harris missed Week 2's matchup against Howard with an undisclosed injury. During the week, Cignetti stated that he is making process toward a return, but he remains a game time decision at this time. Ryland Gandy figures to step up if Harris is unable to go.
CB Jamari Sharpe: Game time decision
Indiana's other starting cornerback, Jamari Sharpe, also went down with an undisclosed injury in Week 1 against North Texas. However, Cignetti sounds confident in Sharpe's ability to return in Week 3. At this time, it seems that Sharpe is expected to play, although nothing is officially set in stone just yet.
K Nico Radicic - Game time decision
Placekicker Nico Radicic was surprisingly ruled out of the Howard game just minutes before kick-off. He suffered a back injury last week, and was unable to suit up in Week 2. No further details on the extend of Radicic's injury have been released, so it's tough to know what his status is for Week 3 against Western Kentucky. Paddy McAteer handled the placekicking responsibilities with Radicic out, which should be the same this week if Radicic has to miss more time.
TE Trevor Gibbs - Game time decision
TE Trevor Gibbs has yet to play this season with an undisclosed injury, but Cignetti said earlier this week that he is nearing a return to play. If he is able to go, Gibbs would bring some much-needed depth to Indiana's inexperienced TE room.
DL Blake Smythe - Game time decision
Indiana freshman Blake Smythe made quite the impression during fall camp, and was competing for playing time as a rotational piece on the Hoosier defensive front. However, he hasn't been available for Indiana's first two games of the season. Cignetti says that Smythe is "pretty impactful for a freshman" so it's clear that he has liked what he's seen so far. Cignetti also mentioned that he is confident in his ability to return soon, which hopefully means he can suit up on Saturday against the Hilltoppers.
