Currently ranked as the No. 29 class in the country by Rivals, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class is in a strong position. Curt Cignetti has landed commitments from 16 total recruits, and more could be on the way sooner rather than later.

As Cignetti and the Hoosiers wait for more commitment decisions to be made from top targets, multiple commits have moved up in national recruiting rankings over the last few weeks. First, WR Branden Sharpe earned 4-star status from 247Sports earlier this month. He also made a significant jump up in the national recruiting rankings, catapulting from the No. 825 overall ranking to now being ranked as the No. 234 overall player in the country for the 2027 cycle.

Now, another Hoosier commit has joined Sharpe in gaining his 4-star status.

Indiana commit Brady Scott earns 4-star status from ESPN

On Saturday, Hoosier commit Brady Scott was upgraded to a 4-star prospect by ESPN. Furthermore, Scott moves up the national recruiting rankings and is now considered the No. 27 safety in the country by ESPN.

Scott is a 6'0" 195-pound safety hailing from Reading, MA. He committed to the Hoosiers back on May 31 after also considering Louisville, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt, among others.

He is one of two safeties in IU's 2027 class, joining 3-star prospect Garyon Hobbs. Other defensive backs in the class include 3-star CB Chris Bradley and 3-star CB Ramir Harris-Dupree. 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr. was also committed to Indiana, but he abandoned that commitment earlier this spring. He has not yet announced where his new college football home will be, although several Big Ten teams including Ohio State and Michigan are heavily involved in his now re-opened recruitment.

Scott's ascension to 4-star status once again shows the elite eye Cignetti has for under-the-radar talent.

Cignetti continues to bolster Indiana's 2027 recruiting class

Throughout the course of his two seasons in Bloomington, Cignetti has shown that he doesn't need a plethora of blue chip prospects to deliver elite results. Cignetti has led IU to an overall record of 27-2 to go along with a Big Ten Championship and national title using rosters chalk full of overlooked prospects.

Over his first two recruiting cycles at Indiana, the Hoosiers had recruiting classes ranked No. 60 in 2024 and No. 55 in 2025. His 2026 class ranks as the No. 30 recruiting class in the country according to Rivals Team Recruiting Rankings. Looking ahead, Indiana's 29th-ranked 2027 class has the potential to be Indiana's best recruiting class with Cignetti at the helm when it's all said and done.

Along with recruiting classes that are trending upward in the national rankings, Cignetti has an elite eye for talent when using the transfer portal as well. Cignetti and his staff have made a habit of finding under-the-radar talent and blossoming that talent into championship-level performers. Hoosier football fans are hoping that trend continues in 2026 and beyond,
