In the first year with Darian DeVries at the helm of the program, the Indiana Hoosiers finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-13 and a 9-11 mark in Big Ten play. After going a just 3-10 in Quad 1 games and 3-4 in Quad 2 games, it seems that the NCAA Tournament will evade the grasp of the Hoosiers once again. Barring any wild last-minute changes to current bracket projections, Indiana will miss the big dance for the 8th time in the last 10 years.

DeVries' first season with the cream and crimson puts the program in a tough spot moving forward. The main rotation of players from this season are out of eligibility, including IU's top five scorers. But help is on the way in the form of Indiana's 2026 recruiting class, which features three top-80 players in the country.

The three incoming freshman who can provide a spark for Darian DeVries in Year 2

Indiana's 2026 recruiting class currently features three 4-star players: Vaughn Karvala, Prince-Alexander Moody, and Trevor Manhertz. The class is currently ranked No. 19 in the country, and with so much production gone from this past season, it's quite possible that these incoming freshmen will be asked to contribute on a steady basis in 2026.

Vaughn Karvala, small forward

The highest-ranked player in IU's recruiting class for 2026 is Vaughn Karvala, who comes in as the No. 51 prospect in the country according to 247Sports. Hailing from Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, AZ, Karvala is a 6'6 180-pound small forward who is loaded with upside. He is a solid athlete who can get up and down the floor with pace, and is capable of knocking down shots from beyond the arc. He signed with the Hoosiers in November, and has all the tools to make an immediate impact as a true freshman.

Prince-Alexander Moody, combo guard

Prince-Alexander Moody heads to Bloomington as the No. 80 prospect in the country, and has a well-rounded skill set that could make for a great fit in IU's back court in 2026 and beyond. A Maryland native, Moody possesses great versatility that could play well as a point guard or a wing. He suffered an ACL injury as an underclassman at Bishop McNarama High School, but has worked his way back and is has improved as a shooter upon his return. Like Karvala, Moody also signed with the Hoosiers in November.

Trevor Manhertz, small forward

Trevor Manhertz comes in ranked as the No. 65 prospect in the country. He owns a 6'8" 185-pound frame, and committed to Indiana on January 28. He is the top player in the state of North Carolina, and garnered plenty of attention from Jon Scheyer and Duke. He took an official visit to Durham in December, but DeVries was ultimately able to lure him away from the Blue Devils. He heads to Bloomington looking to help get the Hoosiers back to the NCAA Tournament in 2026.
