Indiana football recruiting: Three-star DB Jay Timmons flips commitment to Florida State

Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles coaching staff have flipped a 2026 commitment from former Indiana recruit Jay Timmons.

Timmons verbally committed to Indiana back in April right after an official visit in Bloomington.

Jay Timmons is the son of former NFL linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who spent a decade with the Pittsburgh Steelers and won a Super Bowl with the franchise in 2008. He also made the NFL Pro Bowl in 2014 and All-NBA rookie team in 2007.

As a junior at Timmons had 33 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 8 pass deflections and 3 defensive touchdowns.  Timmons also caught 24 passes for 485 yards and four touchdowns.

Timmons who attends Pine-Richland in Gibsonia, PA plays both defensive back and wide receiver and is the No. 465 player overall in the class. Simmons is also ranked as the No. 14 player in the state of Pennsylvania and the 35th best corner back in the 2026 class according to 247 Sports.

“I wanted FSU because it’s my dream school, the school I’ve always been a fan of and it’s where I was born …,” Timmons told Warchant and On3 Sports “Having an offer from Florida State is literally a dream come true.”
