Just days after he de-committed from the Iowa Hawkeyes, class of 2026 quarterback Cash Herrera visited Indiana over the weekend and is now officially the 19th player to sign with the Hoosiers in this recruiting cycle.

Herrera had originally committed to the Hawkeyes on Oct. 3, 2024, but the The Bishop's School signal-caller de-committed from Iowa last Thursday.

Herrera visited Bloomington over the weekend and had this to say about the program:

“Just learning about coach Cig and their winning culture they are building showed me a lot on the visit. Learning about the offense and school was big too. Meeting the coaches and players and playing mini golf at coach Cig’s house were other highlights," Herrera told On3.

"“The staff is all about ball and winning,” Herrera said. “I got close with the QB coach, Chandler Whitmer. I like him and how the atmosphere is competitive and that there is a high standard there.”"

Herrera who attends The Bishop's School in La Jolla, California, is rated as a 3-star prospect and ranked 805th nationally in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked as the 46th-best quarterback in the class per 247Sports Composite

Outside of Indiana, he also had offers from Colorado State, Iowa, San Diego State, UCLA, Cal, Minnesota, Arizona, Virginia Tech and several Group of Five and Ivy League programs.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 207 pounds the rising senior quarterback threw for 2,033 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions on 141-of-226 passing (62.4%). Herrera also had 334 yards rushing and eight touchdowns on the ground. As a full-time starter, he led Bishop’s to a 7-4 record, finishing 2nd in the Coastal League behind Santa Fe Christian.

Greg Biggins of 247Sports described him as a “late-bloomer,” suggesting this could be an even better get for Curt Cignetti and Chandler Whitmer than looks like right now. While Biggins noted his natural arm talent, he also praised Herrera’s athleticism in and out of the pocket.
