Year 1 of the Darian DeVries era in Bloomington ended by missing out on March Madness once again. DeVries now faces a major roster rebuild for Year 2, and figures to be plenty busy in the transfer portal over the next few weeks. If the Hoosiers want to take a big step forward, nailing those transfer pickups will be essential.

At the same time, Indiana's incoming 2026 recruiting class could be in line to make solid contributions next season. The class features a trio of 4-star prospects in small forward Vaughn Karvala, combo guard Prince-Alexander Moody, and small forward Trent Manhertz. Karvala and Moody has signed, while Manhertz is a hard commit.

All three players have put forth strong performances against the top players in the country in recent weeks, but Moody's performance over the weekend has Hoosier fans even more fired up for the future.

IU commit Prince-Alexander Moody sets scoring record for NorthEast Classic

On Saturday, Moody put forth a record-breaking performance playing in the NorthEast Classic. The Indiana signee scored 55 points, setting a NorthEast Classic record.

Moody's scoring prowess gives Indiana basketball fans a lot to look forward to. He can score in a variety of ways, and given the current status of Indiana's roster for next season, it wouldn't be surprising to see him compete for solid minutes as a true freshman. The Hoosiers are losing each of their top-seven scorers from last season, which could open the door for Moody to make an immediate impact.

In-state transfer snubs Indiana as urgency builds for Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers

Moody is ranked as the No. 80 overall prospect and No. 8 combo guard in the country for the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports.

He chose DeVries and the Hoosiers over other offers from Maryland, Michigan State, Illinois, and Virginia Tech, among others. The 4-star prospect committed to IU last summer on June 27 and officially signed on November 13.
