Big Ten Network and NBA TV college basketball analyst Andy Katz ranks Indiana 9th in the Big Ten for the upcoming season, right in the middle of the 18 team Big Ten Conference.
Andy Katz released updated power rankings for the Big Ten on Monday. The Hoosiers are ranked behind Purdue (No. 1), Michigan (No. 2), Oregon (No. 3), UCLA (No. 4), Illinois (No. 5) and Wisconsin (No. 6), Michigan State (No.7) and Ohio State (No. 8).
Katz projecting Indiana men's basketball finishing ninth in the conference under first head coach Darian DeVries is about where most people will have the Hoosiers in their debut season together.
Indiana's roster returns zero players from last seasons 19-13 squad under former head coach Mike Woodson.
Katz believes West Virginia transfer forward Tucker DeVries, and Troy transfer guard Tayton Conerway will lead the Hoosiers' attack this season.
"Remember the name Tayton Conerway," Katz said. "Conerway will be a big-time scorer in the Big Ten from Indiana."
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Conerway earned Sun Belt Player of the Year honors in 2024-25 after averaging 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He ranked third in the country with 98 total steals, a program record at Troy, and he scored in double figures in 27 of his 34 appearances last season.
DeVries only played in eight games as a West Virginia Mountaineer this past season, averaging 14.9 points per game, and 4.9 rebounds per game, as he dealt with a shoulder injury which required off-season surgery.
Tucker DeVries played three seasons at Drake University previously where he was a two-time Missouri Valley Player of The Year and was averaged 14.9 points, 1.8 steals,1.5 blocks. and 4.9 rebounds.
