Indiana Basketball aiming to take a big step forward in Year 2 under Darian DeVries
Hoosier basketball fans are looking for more in 2026-27. DeVries' first season ended with an underwhelming 18-14 record (9-11 in Big Ten play), and another missed NCAA Tournament. But there are reasons for optimism in Bloomington.
Indiana brings in a highly-touted transfer portal class that is led by 6'11" power forward Aiden Sherrell and 7'2" center Samet Yigitoglu. Together, they figure to lead a revamped Hoosier frontcourt. In the backcourt, transfers such as Markus Burton, Bryce Lindsay, Jaeden Mustaf, and Darren Harris give Indiana plenty of high-major experience up and down the roster.
Add in returners Trent Sisley and Sam Alexis, as well as a promising incoming freshmen class, and the Hoosiers could be poised to take a big step forward in Year 2 of the DeVries era. In an expanded 76-team NCAA Tournament field, DeVries and the Hoosiers have their sights set on a March Madness run that IU fans are starving for.
