Is Brendan Sorsby the most underrated quarterback in the country?
The veteran Cincinnati passer is the nation's highest-grade quarterback on Pro Football Focus at 92.2 overall (min. 100 dropbacks), and he just got some high praise from ESPN's Bill Connelly.
Connelly recently ranked Sorsby as the sixth-best quarterback in the nation so far this season five games in.
"Cincinnati is basically one poor pass away from being one of the biggest stories of the early season," Connelly wrote."Sorsby's under thrown interception cost the Bearcats a potential win over Nebraska in Week 1. He has otherwise piloted what might be the most well-rounded offense this side of USC and Indiana. Saturday's track meet win at Kansas inserted Sorsby and Cincy into the Big 12 race."
Brendan Sorsby went 29-for-43, passing for 388 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 37-34 thrilling win against the Kansas Jayhawks. Sorsby also ran for 13 carries for 52 yards on the ground.
Sorsby put together an excellent performance Saturday putting him in a different level and discussion as he tossed two touchdowns and lead a game-winning drive late all in the fourth quarter. He also set a season-high with 388 passing yards, adding 52 yards on the ground as well.
On the season through week five Sorsby has thrown for 1,043 passing yards and ran for 238 yards with 14 total TD's on a 69.2% completion rate and one interception. His QB rating is sitting at 87.6 according to ESPN's QBR (which is sixth nationally).

In 2024, Sorsby emerged as one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the nation. He completed 249-of-389 passes (64.0%) for 2,813 yards and 18 TD's while adding 447 yards and nine rushing touchdowns on the ground.
The Dallas, Texas native originally signed with Tom Allen and Indiana's 2021 recruiting class.
Sorsby appeared in 11 games, starting 7, in his two seasons in Bloomington. He threw for 1,695 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 57% passing in 2022 and 2023. He also added 276 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground while posting a 1-6 record as a starter.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound quarterback is a big, athletic, strong-armed quarterback unafraid to put his body on the line for victory and he is not afraid to show off his confidence. Under head coach Scott Satterfield, Sorsby has transformed the UC Bearcats offense and made them a contender in the new look Big 12 Conference.
Brendan Sorsby a redshirt junior is eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft but may likely stay another year and declare for the 2027 NFL Draft to boost his draft stock.
His physical gifts are undeniable, (similar to Daniel Jones) but he is still a very raw prospect as a pure passer with some room to grow in that area. There’s still room for improvement when it comes to processing and taking care of the ball but he has the "it" factor. The good traits he does currenlty have, make him a likely first or second-round pick, but can he be elevate his game to the next level in 2025 and or 2026 enough to get him first round and Heisman Trophy buzz?
Next up Sorsby and the (3-1) Cincinnati Bearcats face a difficult matchup on Saturday against Matt Campbell and the No. 14 ranked Iowa State Cyclones.
