Yesterday it was officially reported by KCRA that former Indiana Hoosiers head coach and longtime NBA coach Mike Woodson would be returning to the NBA to be the assistant coach of the Sacramento Kings.
From the KCRA report:
“Mike Woodson, a former Kings player with NBA head coaching experience, and fan favorite Bobby Jackson, also a former King, who even served previously as an assistant coach with the organization, will be hired as assistant coaches.
“Multiple sources told KCRA 3’s Sean Cunningham that both Woodson and Jackson will join the coaching staff of Doug Christie, who recently signed a multi-year deal with the Kings to be their next head coach. Those sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because the hiring of assistant coaches was not yet official.”
In addition to Mike Woodson joining Doug Christie’s staff, I’ve had multiple sources tell me that Bobby Jackson will indeed return to Sacramento as an assistant coach.

Doug Christie, who took over the head coaching job on an interim basis after the team fired head coach Mike Brown during the regular season, was named the permanent head coach last month back in March.
This season the Sacramento Kings finished with a regular season record of 40-42 and were eliminated in the play-in tournament.
Former Indiana Hoosiers head coach Mike Woodson announced he was stepping down from his job at Indiana in February at the age of 67 years old. Woodson coached the remainder of the 2024-25 season, finishing the season with a 19-13 record missing the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season.
Previously Woodson, coached in the NBA for 22 seasons, which included head coaching stints with the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.
Woodson played for six teams in 11 NBA seasons after being selected by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 1980 draft.
