The emergence of the college basketball transfer portal has created significant roster turnover for teams across the country in recent seasons. In Bloomington, the Indiana Hoosiers will have just a single player (Trent Sisley) returning from last year's team for the 2026-27 season.

5 things to know about Indiana basketball's transfer portal haul so far

With six players from last year's team out of eligibility, and six more players deciding to enter the transfer portal, Darian DeVries was left with a significant roster rebuild heading into his second season at Indiana. He's been able to land some elite talent in the portal, which has Hoosier basketball fans fired up.

As DeVries continues to round out his roster for next season, a former Hoosier has committed to his new college basketball home via the transfer portal.

Former Hoosier Jason Drake commits to Temple via the transfer portal

On Thursday, former Hoosier guard Jason Drake committed to the Temple Owls via the transfer portal. It will be his fourth collegiate team in as many seasons, as he moves on after spending one injury-riddled season in Bloomington.

Drake missed all of the 2025-26 season with a foot injury, making his short tenure with the Hoosiers a forgettable one. He came to Indiana last offseason as one of 10 transfer players that DeVries brought in for his first season with the cream and crimson.

Prior to arriving in Bloomington, Drake spent his freshman season with Cleveland State before spending his sophomore season in the JUCO ranks at Butler Community College. He then spent the 2024-25 season with Drexel, where he started all 33 games and averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Drake is the fourth transfer addition for Temple this offseason. He joins SF Baboucarr Nije from UTSA, SG Dallis Dillard from IUP, and PF Dez White from Oregon State. He is also the third former Hoosier to find a new home via the portal. Earlier this month, F Josh Harris committed to Florida Atlantic and G Aleksa Ristic committed to Belmont.

G Jasai Miles, G Nick Dorn, and C Andrej Acimovic are the three Hoosiers who have yet to find a new team in the portal this offseason.
