The college basketball transfer portal officially opened on Tuesday, and the action has already been fast and furious. Players across the country continue to flood the portal, as more than 1,000 players have entered the portal less than 24 hours after it opened. That number continues to increase by the minute.

Early 2027 national title odds show Darian DeVries and Indiana have a long road ahead

As he enters his second season in Bloomington, Darian DeVries will have plenty of new faces on the Indiana basketball roster next season. A total of six players from this past season are out of eligibility, and Indiana's list of portal departures is now up to three players.

Indiana freshman guard Aleksa Ristic enters the transfer portal

The latest Hoosier to hit the portal is freshman Aleksa Ristic. He is the fourth IU player to enter the portal, joining Jason Drake, Jasai Miles, and Josh Harris.

Ristic's collegiate career began in unfortunate fashion, as he suffered a lower body injury in September and missed the first seven games of the season. He made his Hoosier debut on December 3 against Minnesota, playing three minutes.

In total, Ristic ended his lone season in Bloomington appearing in 12 games and playing 2.5 minutes per game. Coming off the bench, he averaged 0.5 points and 0.1 rebounds per game.

Ristic's decision to enter the portal gives DeVries and his staff more work to do in the portal. As it stands, Indiana's only player officially coming back to Bloomington is Trent Sisley. The incoming 2026 recruiting class features three 4-star prospects in Vaughn Karvala, Prince-Alexander Moody, and Trent Manhertz. Thus, the 2026-27 roster currently consists of four players. Nick Dorn and Andrej Acimovic have yet to announce their decisions.

DeVries needs to find success in the portal, as patience among Hoosier fans is already wearing thin. With so many names flying around in the portal, be sure to follow along with all the latest developments for IU basketball with our Indiana 2026 Transfer Portal Tracker.
