The Indiana Hoosiers are in desperate need of reliable 3-point shooting next season. In Darian DeVries' first season in Bloomington, Indiana finished the regular season ranked 11th in the Big Ten shooting 34.7% from beyond the arc. If DeVries and company want to snap IU's three-year NCAA Tournament drought next season, that number will have to increase.
Former top Indiana target on the market again, and Darian DeVries needs to act
As DeVries look to revamp Indiana's roster through the transfer portal, Miami's Eian Elmer is a name to keep an eye on.
Eian Elmer could be the 3-point sniper Indiana needs next season
On Monday, Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress reported that Miami's Eian Elmer plans to enter the transfer portal. Elmer spent three seasons with the RedHawks, and played a huge role in their perfect 31-0 regular season. He is an excellent 3-point shooter, and has plenty of collegiate experience under his belt.
Hailing from Covington, KY, and playing just a short drive away at Miami, Elmer could be the 3-point sniper Indiana needs next season.

Over his three seasons in Oxford, Elmer appeared in 99 games with 85 starts, and starting all of Miami's 66 games over the last two seasons. He increased his scoring average each season, beginning with 7.0 points per game as a freshman and increasing that number to 11.0 points per game as a sophomore and 12.7 points per game as a junior.
Furthermore, Elmer shot at least 40.0% from 3-point land in all three seasons, and posted a career-high 42.9% mark from beyond the arc this past season. That kind of shooting ability could work perfectly in DeVries' offensive scheme at IU next season.
Elmer was clutch when Miami needed it most, as he went 8-for-11 from the field and 6-for-9 from deep en route to a 23-point effort in Miami's First Four matchup against SMU. His sensational shooting performance helped the RedHawks to become the first team in NCAA Tournament history to score 80+ points, dish out 20+ assists, knock down 15+ three's, and commit less than five turnovers in an NCAA Tournament game.
Other noteworthy performances for Elmer this season included a 32-point effort in Miami's 110-108 overtime victory over Ohio in the regular season finale, a 30-point performance on January 27 against UMass, and a 25-point outing on January 20 in an overtime win over Kent State.
The portal is set to open on Tuesday, and Elmer is a name to watch for Hoosier fans.
