It's been a busy week for the Indiana Hoosiers basketball program. Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers landed a commitment from 7'1" center Felix Kiehlneker, and the official 2026-27 regular season schedule was released. The start of the new season is still several weeks away, but it's clear that anticipation and excitement is building in Bloomington.

Over the weekend, DeVries is hoping to keep the momentum rolling in a major way. That's because one of the top prospects in the country will be taking an official visit to Indiana.
2028 5-star Brady Pettigrew set for official visit to Indiana
Starting on Friday, the Hoosiers will be hosting Brady Pettigrew for an official visit. Pettigrew is one of the most coveted prospects in the 2028 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 1 combo guard and No. 18 overall player in the country for the 2028 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports.
Pettigrew is a 6'3" 170-pound combo guard who hails from Bolingbrook, IL. Last season as a sophomore, he averaged over 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game as a sophomore at Bolingbrook High School. He played travel ball for Bradley Beal Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit, and averaged a strong 24.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He impressed early and often, as his 24.4 points per game were the second-most among all players in the 2028 class.
This weekend's visit won't be the first time that Pettigrew makes his way to Bloomington. The highly-touted prospect took an unofficial visit to Indiana during the spring, and DeVries and his staff will undoubtedly be looking to stand out from the crowd this weekend.
The competition for Pettigrew's services is fierce. He has already taken an official visit to Michigan last weekend, and has seven more scheduled for the fall/winter. Following his visit to Indiana this weekend, Pettigrew has official visits scheduled for Florida (Sept. 25-26), Illinois (Oct. 2-4), North Carolina (Oct. 9-11), Kentucky (Oct. 23-25), BYU (Oct. 30-31), Ohio State (Nov. 6-8), and Arkansas (Jan. 1-3).
Darian DeVries continues hunt for first 5-star commit at Indiana
No matter what happens this weekend, it will likely be a while before Pettigrew makes any sort of commitment decision. With nine visits on his calendar, he is likely to spend the next few months evaluating where those teams stand before narrowing his list of contenders down.
DeVries has yet to land a 5-star commit at Indiana. Along with being firmly in the mix for Pettigrew, DeVries has the Hoosiers in the hunt for 5-star Darius Wabbington as well. Owning a 6'11" 245-pound frame, Wabbington is ranked as the No. 2 center and No. 14 overall player in the nation for the 2027 class according to Rivals. Indiana is among his list of finalists, along with Arizona, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Texas. He took a visit to Indiana earlier this month, and was in attendance for Indiana's season-opening football game against North Texas.
Indiana's 2027 recruiting class currently features 4-star PG Chase Branham and international center Felix Kiehlneker. The 2028 class is currently empty, but DeVries is hoping to change that sooner rather than later.
