Darian DeVries is gearing up for his second season at the helm of the Indiana basketball program. His first season ended without an NCAA Tournament appearance, as the Hoosiers finished with an overall record of 18-14, went 9-11 in Big Ten play, and lost in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Indiana was well-positioned to qualify for March Madness in mid-February, but a 1-6 record to close the season ultimately doomed those hopes.

But there is new optimism in Bloomington. DeVries re-stocked Indiana's roster with a talented transfer portal class and incoming freshmen who have the potential to make an immediate impact this season. In an expanded 76-team NCAA Tournament field, DeVries seems to have put together a roster that can make some noise in 2026-27.

But the games aren't played on paper. Now it's up to DeVries and his coaching staff to put it all together and get the most out of the Hoosiers. Indiana basketball fans are hungrier than ever for a March Madness run, and DeVries is looking to make that happen.

Tip-off for the new season is still several weeks away, but the anticipation is already building. That anticipation has been enhanced with the official release of Indiana's full 2026-27 regular season schedule. Now that all 32 opponents and game dates are known, let's take a look at the schedule DeVries will face in his second season in Bloomington.

Exhibition games

The Hoosiers will open with a trio of exhibition games in October against Butler, North Carolina, and Western Kentucky. These follow the FISU America Games earlier this summer where Indiana won a gold medal competing as Team USA in Peru.

  • Oct. 11 –– at Butler
  • Oct. 18 –– vs North Carolina (Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis)
