3-star CB drops major recruiting hint that he could be Bloomington bound soon

Curt Cignetti has the Indiana football program riding some serious recruiting momentum when it comes to the 2027 class. Cignetti has landed commitments from eight prospects over the last month, which has Indiana's 2027 class up to 11 players and ranked as the No. 31 class in the country by 247Sports.

Now, Cignetti is looking to see if that momentum can carry over into IU's recruiting efforts for the 2028 cycle.

Indiana extends an offer to 4-star 2028 two-way prospect Major Floyd

Indiana has yet to secure a 2028 commit, but Cignetti has extended offers to several prospects. His most recent offer comes in the form of 4-star WR Major Floyd, who is a two-way player hailing from East Dublin , GA.

Playing both wide receiver and safety for East Laurens High School, Floyd is ranked as the No. 15 player in the state of Georgia and No. 125 overall prospect in the country by the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Last season as a sophomore, the blue chip recruit totaled 26 catches for 407 yards and 4 touchdowns as a receiver while also racking up 43 tackles, 3 pass break ups, 2 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.

Along with Indiana, Floyd's list of offers includes Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech, among others.

Curt Cignetti eyeing early 2028 recruiting momentum

Among Power 4 programs, only 12 teams have landed commitments from prospects in the 2028 recruiting cycle. Nine blue chip recruits have announced their commitments, including a pair of 5-star prospects. When it comes to 5-stars, EDGE Jameer Whyce has committed to Ohio State and QB Jayden Wade is going to Georgia.

Cignetti's list of 2028 offers continues to grow, and Floyd is the 17th wide receiver to receive an offer from the Hoosiers. Floyd's 247Sports Composite rating of .950 makes him the highest-ranked receiver among that group of wideouts. Thus, it's clear that Floyd is a highly-coveted recruit who is sure to continue racking up the offers over the next few months.

As Cignetti looks to pickup some early 2028 recruiting momentum, it may be a while before a commitment rolls in. It is still quite early in the 2028 recruiting cycle, and top prospects such as Floyd who are entering their junior seasons are sure to take some time during their recruitment process.

Cignetti has proven he can win without a roster full of blue chip recruits, but his winning culture and proven success in Bloomington has put Indiana firmly on the radar of blue chip prospects across the country. More blue chippers could be on the way.
